Newbie or Old Pro, Always Something of Value
I have viewed seven classes from this source in the past year or so. They hooked me with a free "Short Row" class. Didn't know what they were and even after taking the class never thought I would use it. Funnily enough, about three months later, decided to do a shawl pattern involving short rows. It turned out great. Had I not take the class, I never would have had the nerve to try it. The Moibus knitting with Cast Bordhi was terrific. I had her book and had done several baskets from that. Seeing her on video gave me much more confidence. In addition to great content, the way the app is laid out is intuitive and fun to use. I recommend it highly.
A review of the app--not Craftsy
Generally if I am watching my classes on Craftsy, the app is great. It works fine. And the platform is still better than anybody else's online crafting courses. However, it has one feature that I HATE: I have nearly 200 classes, and scrolling through the list on the app to find them is positively mind-numbing. I have to go through page after page, and if I stop to bring one up to look for something, it returns me to the TOP of the list all over again. PLEASE Craftsy, just give me a list, and stop trying to be so darn slick. The search function is functional, but sometimes I don't know wha time looking for, and finding classes is a real pain.
I work two jobs and honestly can't make my way to my local yarn shop for spinning or weaving lessons. With Craftsy I can watch my classes when and where I want and as often as I want.
The classes in which I've enrolled are fantastic. Camera angles and close ups are provided which is as good as physically attending a class as far as I'm concerned.
I need new hobbies like I need a hole in the head but if there was something I wanted to learn I would go to Craftsy first to see if they had any offerings.
