Cube is a singleplayer and multiplayer first person shooter that provides satisfying and fast oldskool gameplay. This opensource game is built on an entirely new and very unconventional engine. Cube is a landscape-style engine that pretends to be an indoor FPS engine, which combines very high precision dynamic occlusion culling with a form of geometric mipmapping on the whole world for dynamic LOD for configurable fps & graphic detail. Most of the engine design is targeted at reaching feature richness through simplicity of structure and brute force, rather than finely tuned complexity.

This iphone port is provided by fernLightning is a technology demo that supports all of the functionality of the desktop version including multiplayer, in-game editing, cooperative editing, demo recording, etc (though some of these are impractical on the iphone) - please visit the official Cube homepage for more information. Furthermore we encourage people to check out the newest version of Cube - Cube 2: Sauerbraten - a far more powerful and modern version.

fernLighting thanks Wouter van Oortmerssen of dot3labs for his permission to release this port.

Great, Awesome Game! I can't express all! Very High-Quality and exciting!

SP Mode-Mission(With many triggers), DMSP Mode-Deathmatch.

I played all of SP game except 3 which are unable to proceed or very hard.
You can win SP by killing all of enemies or enabling a particular trigger(Almost-eat carrot).

Some SP games are very long, and you don't know when will you die. So use 'quicksave' and restore. But When restoring, be careful or you'll save the game, with dying!

In DMSP, just kill all enemies. Items are always restored. You can change level, 1 to 10. 3 is default and the number of enemy is equal to 10*level, also, enemies' skill is changed.

Yep, it's originally a PC Game. All function is usable... But multiplayer doesn't work.

It will be better if this game is optimized for iPhone. Size is same to PC version, which means unnecessarily big image sizes. This causes a lot of framedrops.

Controlling is very hard. Moving speed is very fast and I cannot handle this. It sometimes drives me crazy. I couldn't proceed one of SP map because of this.

It takes a little time to get used. Good luck!

P.S. The last of Pigcam episode.... It's impossible.

This looks like quake 2. The game is cool. The game has hard controls that new first person shooter gamers and even new gamers shouldn't pick as a first choice. I mean, I'm used to first person shooters as I've played call of duty and other games you probably don't know about. Though, the game could use a d-pad or analog stick, this might have lag the game though. I wish you could see all the things you do while playing the game as it is hard to remember. All this might not be too much for the iphone's and iPod touch's processor, but the graphics chip might not be able to handle all the extra screen space as the bitmapping and the amount of enemies might be too much for the iPod touch or iPhone. The visuals on the iPhone are about gamecube limits. Anyways, great game, great price, but hard controls.

Update: you should definitely try this before getting any other fps on the iPhone. Just so you can experience other games. Though. This game feels too much like a tech demo. I feel that this game could be more polished. Anyways, you seriously have to get this, if you don't then you're retarded, jk. But it's free. You have nothing to lose.

Sauterbraten Gone iPhone?

Well after reading the reviews, I can't say I expected much of this game. I'm happy to report that the critics who bash this game were overly hasty in thier decision.

Okay, bad stuff 1st. The menu is admittedly aweful, and there really should be a tutorial. That's pretty much it! :-)

Alright the controls are a big issue for this game. They aren't very self explanatory and are very difficult upon start. However after a good 30 minutes of messing around with them I began to truly enjoy them! They are uncoventional and a bit hard, but in the hands of a skilled player they could be far more than any other iPhone FPS I have seen.

No idea why anyone is bashing the graphics... They are very good and keep in mind, the game is free!

Gameplay is a little slow but fun and it strongly reminded me of Doom.

The music is decent and often sets the mood of the game.

Overall I give this a 5/5! Check it out, and also try Sauerbraten for PC if you haven't. It's right up there with Nexuiz, Quake Live and any other free PC shooter.
