a decent attempt at making comics readable on the iPod
Let's start with the good news.
This is a decent attempt at making comics readable on the iPod. By double-clicking on a panel, you can zoom in to view that single panel. From there, you can swipe forward to the next panel, swipe back to the last panel, or double-click to zoom out. It is still not perfect. For one, the panels are not made for the iPod; they are made for traditional reading. If you are at all familiar with comics, you know that it's sometimes important to see the whole page at once. For example, a large panel showing a confused boy surrounded by several inset panels of crazy wacky creature doing crazy wacky shenanigans is designed that way for a reason. Simply reading it in order loses the effect. There's also a lost opportunity. One of the best DS homebrew items I've come across is "A Question of Promise: Digital Comic", which was not only perfectly adapted to an iPod-sized digital device, but also seemlessly integrated music into the experience.
And now, the bad news.
The comic is dull. Also, it has a tacked on love interest, because every story has to have one, amirite? Additional issues cost money (as it tells you in the app description; come on people, you do read, right?)
You can zoom in on panels.
Boring and predictable.
Additional issues require money.
Nice, but Some Worries
The comic is a great addition to the Cut the Rope series, as it has how On Nom was delivered. The comic looks great, as it has clear color pictures, wording, and more. The good things are:
- Clear pictures
- No crashing (For me)
- Modern looks
- Soundtrack is nice
The bad things are that a eComic is $1.99 USD. I think that is should be .99¢, not $1.99. This IS a eComic, not a comic that you hold in your hand and can keep for a long time (eComics are loaded in a iPad.). A worry that I have is that if you buy a comic, and you have a iPad and a iPod Touch for example, will the both of them have that comic you just bought? Some other worries are:
- How much updates are there?
- The price ($1.99)
- Does it need WiFi?
It conclusion, I think that this is a good app, but needs to be updated so that a comic is .99¢. Also, you can put a yearly/monthly subscription so that people can just buy once, and never have to update for a year for example.
Thanks for reading!
Good time waster!
My name is Evan so I thought it was kinda cool that his name is Evan too, and it's a cool read... Om nom is adorable and for me everything downloaded perfectly and didn't crash (it might be because I have a outdated iPhone 3). I thought the character reacted to a lot of situations like I would, I enjoyed his "creative cussing". Sounds kinda like me, whenever something surprising happens instead of swearing I say "holy Fary!" Or "good mercy" I've been doing that for like 5 years (I'm 11) and I love cut the rope the game. However the second two comics are a bit pricy and they are VERY SHORT!!! I got through all three issues in like, 2 minutes ( I'm a fast reader)!!! I mean come on... Two minutes!!! Four 4 bucks!!! But still... Its a ok comic! 4 stars keep the issues coming!!! (But please reduce the price to 0.99 cents an issue) thanks!!!
