Disappointed, and Shocked about it
Have been using the app for I think a month now and the service has been subpar at best. 1st issue I had was the realization I could only watch videos on my phone. Who wants to watch all these great shows and movies on their phone?!? So I got a Chromecast so I could better enjoy the app. And although annoyed that I had to buy something else to enjoy the app, I was satisfied watching my favorite TV shows and movies on TV. 2nd issue. Today while trying to continue my binge watching of static shock I lost all control of which episode I was actually watching. I would click on an episode and a completely different episode would play. Tried reinstalling app. Uninstalled and reinstalled. Turned off WiFi. Restart phone. Disconnect from chromecast. All of that and nothing has worked. Hard to enjoy a show when you can’t actually pick the episode you want to watch. On to issue 3. Support!!!!! I have emailed support (who doesn’t do quick links) and they emailed me back asking me to do the things I’ve already done. So I respond to let them know I did all of that and I haven’t heard anything back. Maybe it’s just slow email. How does support not just have the quick link and a window that connects you to a agent? Or a phone number. If there is one I have overlooked it and hope someone can give it to me. Should give 1 star, but when working I do enjoy the app. DC has a lot of great movies and shows. Just wish they’d fix this app!!!
Great service, best subscription just got better
All of my favorite tv series growing up were DC, and despite the blockbuster Marvel movies I always just could not get enough. I signed up for DC Universe to watch the new season of Young Justice. Right after I subscribed, they came out with a Fire TV app which I could use to watch the shows. I never really used it afterwards, but they keep adding new movies and shows and I kept the subscription. However, when they announced that they would be adding 20,000 comics from the DC library by the end of the month I was beyond excited. Although the television shows are usually just a bit too violent for my taste, the comics, animated movies and classic tv shows means that I’m going to keep my subscription for the year. I’ve already almost finished the Brightest Day main storyline, and since I started two days ago they added 121 comics from that storyline. The layout is a little confusing as the issues are organized by chronology, not storyline, but overall I’m excited.
One star taken away because sometimes the comic reading is a little glitchy at the moment- ie I’m reading a comic, I turn the page and suddenly all the rest of the pages of that comic get an error message. Please fix that.
Hit and miss
As a lover of DC and comic books I was excited to see the treasure trove of comic books and movies as well as hard to find animations available through this app. Titans is an excellent show and it keeps getting better. HOWEVER, the only way you can enjoy this service is either on your PC or on your phone. This app isn’t on any gaming consoles or cable boxes. It does have Apple TV support, but you’d be very lucky if you can get any videos to work on it in its current state. The app will also randomly lock you out of content and ask you to choose a subscription plan even if you are signed in and subscribed which is very irritating. Pretty sure that bug has been around since day 1. Love the concept, but until I see this app on other platforms it’s not worth the subscription given the barebones hardware options and bugs that should’ve been handled long ago. Looking forward to improvements, but for now I can only justify 3 stars.
UPDATE: Subscription bug has been around since the beginning and still hasn’t been fixed. Apple TV support still will stay locked in the buffering state. This is unacceptable seeing this app has been almost 4 months and is a paid service. Get it together. I’m dropping my rating.
