Digital Abacus

By ExactLead

This app is only available on the App Store for iOS devices.

A merge of modern technology and ancient methodology, Digital Abacus is the timeless calculator for all ages.

For many, it's simply nostalgia, but for children it becomes a learning tool. Children slide the beads and count, visualizing the numbers as they interact with the app. It's a good way to learn basic number concepts they will take with them through life.

- Learn the lost art of the abacus with the help of a digital readout.
-Work with an interactive counting tool rather than simply punching in numbers and getting an answer.

Marvelous tool for the learning delayed

The ability to correllate the spoken language to represented amounts is often overlooked in teaching math. Students may know how to count by rote, but do not understand arthmetic operations (+ - * /). This is why we start learning math by “counting with our fingers.” The “psychology of math” can be taught or strengthened when the student is immediately “seeing what he/she is doing”, and this app goes a long way in that direction.

Ehhhh! It's simply an abacus. Not a teaching app.

No sound effects at all. No tutorial, but gives example of simple addition. Should also teach subtraction, multiplication and division. Should give a set of random problems based on age of user.

I do like the beads sliding back when you tilt the screen, but it doesn't even tell you that, had to discover on my own.

Lacking Sound Effects

As far as I can tell, it works like an abacus should. Unfortunately there are no sounds. Please fix this.
