Way better than previous update

Glad to see that the developer is still updating this game. New graphics are a marked improvement although it is no longer wide screen. Things that got fixed are the night vision, you now can turn it off and on by using the 0 key. You can now start a fire by hitting a key although I’m still trying to find a reason to make one. maybe as a marker at night or scare off critters? The cabins have been updated to where you can now enter them to hide or to look for scrolls, gas and ammo.

Gameplay: Here is where things have really been improved. The whole landscape looks different although the islands have retained their perspectives shapes. Long distance viewing is more limited especially on the dino island. In the new settings panel, there is a slider for level of detail. Slide it to the right and you’ll feel as if you are truly in Jurassic Park. All sorts of plants will block your vision making is much more difficult to see your prey. I thought the jeep was tough to use before when driving around the swamp, it is totally impossible now. Which I like BTW. Instead of just driving around easily, this forces you to hunt on foot. And that brings us to the most scary part of the game. The raptors and the Spinosaurus are so well camouflaged that they are invisible. The only way to see them is to look for their shadows. Friggin awesome.

All of the animals are still there, but maybe it’s just me, but there seems to be a higher number of pterodactyls and hawks.

Minor complaints: There are a couple issues that still persist. 1. Hiding in the tents or in the cabins doesn’t completely make you safe which I think it should. I had a bear almost totally inside a tent as well as some of the other beasts. 2. The GPS and the night vision are slightly erratic. Sometime they work, sometime they don’t. 3. When calling for the horse, there is no longer a whistle sound.

All in all, this new update has elevated the playability of the game immensely. The improved graphics and the updated menu make this an even more solid game that is well worth checking out. But whatever you do, DO NOT add the monkey. It will drive you insane.
