Customer Reviews

Good implementation fails for reliable collaborations

Summary: Documents fails to met my most important need for an iPad editor of PDFs.

I need an app to edit PDFs on an iPad and desktop for collaborative workflow. It must do these things

* have an intuitive UI for workflow
* allow efficient reviews of annotations
* sync effectively to various clouds
* most important: store and translate annotations reliably across multiple platforms

Documents does a good job to meet the first three requirements. The UI is neat, the tools are intuitive, and the whole operation is smooth. One could ask for different layouts of the tools. It seems that PDFExpert may take over that part. The option to view annotations in a toolbar window is also nicely done.

Unfortunately, Documents does a poor job to meet the last requirement. The annotations are not translated properly to Preview on a Mac. The author is missing, text notes are translated to Preview as highlights, and annotated text only appears in the notes field for notes. The annotations crash Adobe Acrobat on the Mac (which I presume means, they crash Windows too). Finally, some annotations do not translate to other iPad PDF editors. I must have a defined authorship stamp, proper annotation translation and viewing, and reliable import/export across all platforms with commonly available tools to collaborate properly.

NOT comparable with iOS 10

I used to LOVE this app and I use it to conduct total document storage and management for my law practice and my national guard projects. HOWEVER, since iOS 10 it is impossible to use despite numerous correspondence I have had with the developer. At this moment I can barely access this app long enough to pull a critical document out of it before it crashes. There is no way to actually interface with my documents within it because it will crash every few minuets right in the middle of whatever I am doing. Just today in the app store we were told HUZZAH the update is ready and now this app is fully compatible...NOPE!!! Downloaded the update and it STILL crashes. BAD!

I Love This App

It is a powerful file manager that does more than any other I have used. It lets you download files straight to your phone that you couldn't without it like audio and video files and webpages. I also like how you can connect you google, iCloud and One Drive accounts as well as your Dropbox. It also connects to your photos and music. It works for me on iOS 10.
