The Arcade LaserDisc Classic!!

Seeing all the negative reviews for this game, I went ahead and purchased this game. For $9.99, it's a great buy!! It plays excatly like the arcade did, although I never played it when I was younger. I also have this game for my iPhone as well. The graphics are excatly like the arcade the the controls are spot on!! It does take timing to do certain things. Having the move beeps on as well as the move indicators on helps, as these will help to get the timing down. You DO have to press the appropriate arrow key at a precise moment, or you'll either die in rather gruesome ways. This works just like the iOS port, as I have that version. My only gripes are the full screen mode and a bug when exiting the game. The full screen mode is not really full screen. It's windowed with the bottom truncated. The Menubar shows and you have to hide the Dock manually. The other is a bug. Sometimes when I exit, the sound and music still plays back. To remedy this, go into the Activity Monitor and Force Quit the App. Other than those two issues I mentioned, the game works very well. I really do hope thay correct these two areas and the game will be perfect. Becasue of the two issues, I'm giving this a 4 star.

Just like I remember it

This is exactly like the original in just about every respect. I like how you can toggle on/off things like hints, difficultly level, and arcade/home version. I believe the home mode will allow you to try a particular problem over and over until you solve it while arcade version puts you into a random problem if you fail. I found that it slipped back into home version after a while, but maybe I misinterpret the mode. Sounds, video, everything is exactly like I remember it. Even the “buzz” and “ping” that register the moves. It sure brought back memories of dimly lit arcades. I was a little surprised how quickly I got to the dragon. Haven’t beat him yet.

To contemporary game players, this will feel strange not having complete control of Dirk, just timed movements. To everyone who watched others play it in the 80’s, it is THE game like the other reviews indicate.

This is the real deal

I used to waste quarter after quarter on this game when I was a kid…first of all for those of you born after 95…this game set the stage for everyone on graphics and experience…long before COD! Second for all the negative reviews…they are wrong. This is 100% accurate to the original and the playability is the same as well. Negative writers…understand the game before you start knocking…this game was was made in 1983…30 years ago!!! This game follows the programming of 1983…there are set moves at a set time…period. Just a piece of history…this is one of 3 games on permanet display at the Smithsonian Institution…pretty cool! Great job and thanks for making me feel old!
