Customer Reviews

Poor word choice

My 2 year old just started learning the alphabet. I saw the rave reviews for this app and, despite the cost, bought it. I'm profoundly disappointed and regret splurging on this. I'll describe what you get, and you decide whether it's worth the investment.

There are a series of words to choose from, and upon clicking on the word, it's magnified, with an outline of the word remaining and colored letters matching the outlines scattered on the screen. Your child's task is to drag each letter into its corresponding outline (think round peg in round hole). While they drag the letter, it makes the sound of the letter. Once all of the letters have been dragged into place to form the word, the word is said, and a short cartoon ensues illustrating the meaning (with varying efficacy). That's it. That's the app. No exercises that teach the letters. Just dragging them into place and hearing the sound while doing so.

What's really frustrating is that the app also blows the opportunity to teach age-appropriate vocab; instead, the words your two-to-three-year old will be forming include "camouflage," "gargantuan," "minuscule," and "scrumptious." So yes, if your child is both learning the alphabet and preparing for the SAT at the same time, it's a perfect app. For those trying to help a 2 year old learn the alphabet, this app is at best overpriced and at worst just an elaborate peg-in-the-hole exercise that does little to teach the alphabet.

Missing the other alphabets

I downloaded this apps longggg time ago for free & got A-Z, few weeks ago my son accidentally deleted. I reinstalled the apps and guess what? It only installed A-G, not A-Z like my previous one. My son was really really disappointed :( Where is H-Z??

Updated: I emailed the developer & they replied me the next day. They told me how to reinstall the apps & how to recover the other alphabets. And it worked like a charm. Thank u for making my son so very happy.

Yes, that is one of the newest words in this app and is the perfect descriptor. We've had this app since my now-6-year old was a toddler. I honestly believe it contributed to his early reading skills, as did Endless Reader. Even now he still loves to go in and learn new words. Highly recommended series of apps, well worth the investment we made, and an app I always enjoy using with him.
