The Energy UFO application for iPhone and iPod Touch provides visual feedback of electricity consumption and its cost as determined by information received from our family of Wi-Fi enabled products, such as the UFO Power Center, a four outlet smart power-strip.
The UFO Power Center, as shown in the application is currently in beta. The application is fully functional, but unless you are a participant in our beta program and have one of our devices, the measurements shown by the application are from a software simulator running on our server. With knowledge of what electricity is used for, Energy UFO assists in energy conservation through increased awareness and behavioral changes.
The Visible Energy UFO is an electrical smart powerstrip of new conception and the Energy UFO application is the visual interface to the powerstrip. The electricity used by each of its four electrical outlets is measured and logged during usage. UFO powerstrips communicate over the power line and to an iPhone or iPod through a home network gateway. The individual powerstrips and their outlets can be programmed to turn on and off according to a daily schedule and from the application. Aggregate and individual devices electricity consumption and cost over several months is visualized in the UFO Energy application.
The application is fully functional and for actual electricity measurement of home devices requires the installation of Visible Energy UFO powerstrips and of a dedicated home network gateway. As configured after download, Energy UFO interacts with Visible Energy servers over the Internet simulating actual power usage of three UFO powerstrips. Once Visible Energy UFO powerstrips and the home gateway are installed, the application will automatically discover and interact with them to visualize actual electricity consumption and cost data.
What's New in Version 2.2
With this version is possible to add schedules and roles to socket and to upgrade software for the UFO Power Center.
