Amazing RPG for the iPod/iPhone!

I bought this game about a month ago or so...back when it was 4.99. I do not regret a single penny that I spent on it...it is a great game with characters that you easily get attached to...for better or worse. I play it everyday. It is alot like the Final Fantasies but this does not bother me at all. The arrow that tells you where to go is a very helpful feature and the graphics are simply to die for, especially since this is not a console game. The gameplay is very simple, and if you want to control all of the characters, you can go to options and enable it. Otherwise you tap on thier name in battle and you can assign them a role, like healer, defender, predator, etc. The fact that it had the voice actors, even though sometimes the voice acting isn't perfect, the 3D graphics and the gameplay was what made me buy it after trying out the free version. It is quite simply a great game. Far more than I'd ever expect of an iPod/iPhone app. Gameloft has gone beyond what most people expect out of the iPod games and wowwed us. I've always loved games that didn't require you to keep a certain person in the party, and let you change who the character was that you explored with. The only thing I sometimes wish there was an option for is to have a camera that followed behind the character rather than having to control it manually, but the lack of this does not make it any less of a great game. I'll definitely play it again and again.

Great RPG for a Great Price

Alright so I wanted to wait until I completed this game before writing a review, and since I just finished it, I'm going to list the positives and negatives of Eternal Legacy

( + )
-The game has a battle system where 2 of your 3 characters attack on their own, which I didn't like, but the game offers you the option of changing this to where you can command all of your characters.
-The monster designs are incredible, and the characters look great too
-The game has a good storyline filled with twists and turns
-Monster encounters aren't random, you can see your enemies walking about, and can therefore avoid ensuing a battle
-There's sidequests, which helps the game seperate itself from a linear RPG

( - )
-The games too short compared to your standard RPG. I beat it in under 10 hours
-The characters aren't very creative or unique. (i.e. the stereotypical female healer)
-The voice acting is terrible, but the background music somewhat makes up for it
-One of the things that bothered me the most was that you can't organize your items, magic, and such. Everything is all over the place and can make it hard to find a specific item. You also can't unequip things, which is very bothersome.
-Finally, the game felt very rushed, and there wasn't very much character development. I never cared for any of the characters.

*SPOILER* *SPOILER* *SPOILER* SPOILER* *SPOILER*
-I rolled my eyes when they pulled a Final Fantasy 7

No hesitation.

I'll start with the worst: this game has little to offer in story. It's good enough to keep the player going, but it's far from anything refined. It basically tells you to do something and you do it. There's little contemplation, only two characters actually change, and the dialogue is choppy, an obvious attempt to cram the entire game into a neat little package. This aside, the game also has other problems. The interface, though mostly clean, has two problems: using items require a stamp of approval and reentering the menu after each time you get kicked out, and the fragments used for magic cannot be removed, only being capable of getting switched out with another. This is a problem when characters leave. But, also, the combat is quite unbalanced. You'll find yourself trapped in long fights because the enemies have such a large amount of health and you do so little in damage, so leveling seems to be the only solution, and it seems to go vice-versa. (Dying takes a lack of effort or experience in gaming) Besides these problems, however, the world is quite developed, the plot could've been great if they tried to put focus on it, battles can be fun when it eventually becomes stable, and there's hours of entertainment; I believe I plugged about 10 hours into this. So consider this a steal for a measly dollar.
