EtreCheck finds and identifies over 50 specific major and minor problems with your system. If your computer has no problems, it will tell you that too. EtreCheck can detect issues such as:
- Lack of backup;
- Adware infection;
- Failing hard drive;
- Out of memory situations; and
- Low disk space situations.
EtreCheck will also tell you if you could get improved performance from a new hard drive or RAM upgrade. EtreCheck has been used for years by thousands of people.
EtreCheck's unique adware detection algorithm allows it to work without superuser permissions or even disk access. EtreCheck will never randomly delete files it thinks are adware. Instead, tells you what it finds and lets you make the decision.
- A list of major and minor issues;
- Access to security information and adware detection; and
- A text-based report that can be posted on your favourite Internet technical support forum to help people identify what is wrong with your computer.
If you don't want to post your EtreCheck report publicly, an in-app purchase can submit your EtreCheck report to our AI-driven diagnostic engine and generate solutions to your major and minor issues. In most cases, this will include one or more step-by-step instructions to help you fix your computer problems yourself.
EtreCheck also provides a Power User in-app purchase that goes beyond the text-based report. It displays a rich, interactive interface that provides links to additional information, charts and graphs, and information to help you learn more about the details of your computer.
A solution purchase provides answers to your overall problem, major, and minor issues. A solution purchase also includes the Power User interface for that specific EtreCheck report.
EtreCheck is designed to put you back in control.
- Full support for dark mode;
- Fixes a crash in rare circumstances;
- Fixes a hang loading the report on some older machines;
- Improved detection of adware;
- Improves descriptions of in-app purchases; and
- Other improvements and bug fixes.
Ratings and Reviews
Great Product; Impressive Support
EtreCheck is often recommended on Apple support forums for good reasons: it works and continues to be enhanced.
But the true mettle of any product is not when something works, but when it doesn’t. One of my early jobs was with a company who’s motto was “A customer problem is a <company name> problem.” It’s rare to find that sense of problem ownership now, but I was reminded of it with an EtreCheck glitch. The developer immediately jumped on the matter and kept me updated (in the wee hours in his timezone). The root cause turned out to lie beyond the scope of EtreCheck.
My experience has not been customer satisfaction, but customer delight.
I’ve been using EtreCheck for many years.
EtreCheck has been and still looks to be a very useful diagnostic tool, but buyer be aware! The one star rating is due to the lack of clarity before one buys in that from here on out you’ll be charged $10 for each report. Furthermore there’s now some very convoluted way to get charged even more by purchasing the “Power User Package” what ever that is. It may not be the developers intent, but I do feel burned on this purchase so EtreCheck will no longer be a part of my toolset for diagnostics.
EtreCheck, and all the reports that it generates, are free. These are text reports intended to be posted on an internet tech support forum. A Power User Package is available that provides an enhanced and interactive user interface above and beyond the text report. But in all honesty, many users have reported that they prefer the text report because it give all of the information about your machine on a single page. If you don't want to post your EtreCheck report publicly, you can purchase a computer-generated Solution. Since a solution is based on a single report, each report has the opportunity to purchase a solution. There are safeguards in place to prevent people from purchasing a solution that would probably not be useful. The next update will further enhance those safeguards to help people who might be confused. All of this information is available on the App Store page, the EtreCheck website, in the app's "welcome" page, in the app itself, in the app's help, and here. We are continuing to look at ways to enhance the experience and prevent confusion, but that takes time.
The best Software for iMac
I love this product so much it is very helpful to find problems if any on my iMac and fix them if any. Very simple to use and free which is awesome and when it came into the store I downloaded it right away. The only thinng I can say is that the version I had before was 3.4.6(460 ) and this was suppose to be 5.0 wonder what happend there. When I download it was the same as what I had but upon reading info it says 5.0 but did not download that version maybe a fix before Mojave I get it. Otherwise awesome great app.
