An elegant and intelligent addition to strategy games and user interface

This is a wonderful game on many systems, but the ipad version is by far the best. Lots of games rely on archaic user interface and control schemes borrowed from other modes of gaming. Euphloria is not one of them. A foundation of simplicity echoes throughout all aspects of the game but the intelligent approach to pacing and UI are perhaps it's greatest innovations. Themes of floral life cycles inform the complexity of its mechanical tools as well as the backstory. I haven't finished the game, but there is a lesser diversity of units than most strategy games. This works very well in the games favor, as it allows for quicker navigation and decision making for the player while still providing levels with diverse and challenging puzzles.

My only complaint would be that it doesn't often make sense to zoom in, as the strategic benefit of being fully zoomed out normally takes precedence. I love the artwork and wish it was able to shine just a bit more (mostly because I enjoy it, but also because it would make the game more exciting to watch). Also, this seems like it would be a unique multiplayer experience, wish that was a featured.

I highly recommend this game to anyone. Especially those interested in strategy games and user interface design.

Simple but Fun

Fairly easy game to master, even on the harder of the two modes. Recommend starting with Story Line to learn the basics then go from there. The strategy is basic: build more and/or better troops ( called "seedlings") than your opponents and conquer their worlds. You can upgrade planets to build troops faster, more offensively or more defensively oriented, but you can only opt for one of these tracks per world. You'll also get the option of building 2 types of more powerful seedlings in some scenarios; again the choice is yours. The nice thing is that if you screw up then start overs are easy - perhaps sometimes even a necessity.

The vast majority of scenarios are straightforward but a few may take more than one attempt to beat. I've gone though all both in easy and hard modes. Once you've done this you can always revisit these scenarios individually and try to beat your best time.

This game doesn't require an Internet connection to play nor does it offer opportunities to waste your hard earned cash to advance faster. In this day and age of "pay to win" games this deserves an extra star for this alone.

I'm giving it 4 stars because it's entertaining, requires some thought, offers some challenge, has the potential of replayability, and doesn't require or ask for money once you start playing it.

Worth a try.

Planting Seeds Meets Space

You play a bunch of seedlings that colonies asteroids in space. I found the ten level tutorial tone very helpful. There is a lot to learn here, so this is not a game to just pick-up and start playing. It has lots of suttle details which take time to learn, but after spending the time the play is pretty intuitive. You work to plant seedlings to on new worlds to grow more trees which make more seedlings. The enemy seedlings are somewhat unpredictable, so that you can not expand too quickly or you will get detroyed. But if you wait too long the enemy grows in strength and it can be a lot harder to beat them in battle.

Nice seedling designs
Nice tree designs
Lots of strategy options

Lots of information to manage to play a best game ( like chess - you can play a decent game without get thought, but you must plan many steps ahead to master)
