It's OK
I stopped using Evernote several years ago and recently came back to it. I synced journal entries from an app that will no longer work with the next iOS update. The notes from that app were in order by date and there were a handful I had updated at a later date (but they remained in the order initially created). When the entries synced over to Evernote some were out of order. Evernote's options for organizing (by date created, by date updated, etc) doesn't fix the order; some entries are still always off no matter which I choose. I wish there was a way to manually move/organize note entries. For example, I have another app where if I press and hold the item, I can move it up or down into whatever order I want. That would be an awesome edition to Evernote!
HUGE issue!!
8.1 and still 8.2 is messing with the note update dates, and is also changing note content. These are huge issues that strike at the heart of it being "ever note".
To reproduce a bug with changing update dates:
- Select a note in Evernote on the iPad.
- Close the Evernote app completely (double tap home, and swipe...).
- Open up Evernote from scratch.
- Start a new note.
- Evernote will change the update date of the last note you were looking at prior to closing the app. This only occurs on iPad.
Evernote 8.2 on iPhone just lost checkboxes on a list I was working on. I built a list yesterday and came back to it this morning to add some things. When I opened the note, it briefly (perhaps 1/10 of a second) looked like a list. Then it changed so that all the line breaks were gone leaving one long string of words. The checkboxes were replaced by "_en_todo_false". I closed the note and it updated, changing the update date even though I simply opened the note and did NO EDITING.
These are very serious issues that get to the integrity of the app. I depend on Evernote. I'm a premium user. I have thousands of notes. I really like the usability of the 8.x update but Evernote will rapidly die if I cannot rely on it to actually BE Evernote!
I love the older Evernote. It was reliable. I will not be able to hold on much longer if I can't rely on Evernote on my phone and iPad.
I won't continue paying for this
I've subscribed to the top level premium subscription for ~5 years and have seen product development go from very basic to directionless and back again without any appreciable improvement in quality. Not only did they remove utility in this recent version but it simply doesn't work! My iPad has been stuck downloading notebooks offline for hours and my notebooks total less than 1GB in size. My internet supports 300kbps down and they are sending data around 5kbps. Every time the device sleeps the process is interrupted and doesn't complete in the background. I finally was able to sync by preventing my device from sleeping and downloading ONE notebook at a time for offline use. Even 2 simultaneously is too many and forget the toggle to download them all at once.
I'm tired of this and plan to find a substitute and take my data with me before my plan expires.
