What's New in Version 5.5.1
Various bug and stability fixes
- Improvements to Descriptive Search
- Note you are working on stays in focus during sync
- Improved searching through large documents
I love this app. It is just a powerhouse. I’ve had it for years (one of its very first subscribers!). What’s amazing is how quickly it takes over your life. I use it for clipping articles off the web for the book I’m writing, mailing articles to myself off my iOS devices, making personal notes, making handwritten notes in meetings (via penultimate), business card management, recipes… you name it. I use it too much, probably. One tip as a user is to be clear with yourself what does NOT go in Evernote. Academic PDF articles definitely do not go in it, as your database starts to feel very bloated, very quickly. Also, to-do lists probably belong elesewhere, like in OmniFocus or something. But for sheer ease of use for most all other functions, Evernote is a lifesaver. I’m a fan for life.
Something to depend on
Use this throughout my day for both personal and work purposes. Keeps getting better and faster with every release. Disclosure: I work at Evernote.
Great for getting things done
Evernote is a comprehensive notetaking, filing and planning system. It is as useful as having a full-time assistant who can help you show up to meetings with all the documents you need easily, digitally available. It helps you plan tasks, including complicated projects. Of course you can take notes with it, even handwritten notes with the Penultimate add-on app. You can begin using the program simply and gradually let it give you control over your busy life.
The frequent updates always seem to make the program better by improving ease of use or functionality. It integrates well with other apps. Eventually, you will find the premium upgrade to be worth the money, but you can get way into Evernote before you need to pay.
No app is perfect, but this one has changed my life. As a person involved in a lot of complicated projects, I find Evernote to be transformative and I am learning new tricks all the time. I am by far the most paperfree person I know, due to Evernote’s capability to save practically everything digitally, and to help you make it available anywhere, anytime. It takes awhile to figure out the full functionality of Evernote, but it is useful as a simple note taking system right away.
I have no association with the developer and I never write reviews. I want to write a strong review because I have recommended this program to college students and young professionals who are finding the organizational aspects of their new lives daunting. Many of them come back to me and tell me Evernote has changed the way they work; they stay on task, get things done, are always prepared, and feel more confident and less anxious. This app is a good way to get control of your work life.
Overall, this is a great app, which improves constantly.
