Very good

I downloaded several French apps to try and thought this much the best. It really does make it fairly easy to absorb at least a recognition vocabulary of several hundred words in a very short time. The progression of words to phrases and short and then longer sentences containing them is very good, it is good to hear sentences pronounced rather than just single word drills. Pronunciation changes dramatically based on what is nearby in a sentence.
Now for changes I would like to see: 1. More of a pause after the speaker says the word or sentence in French, giving you time to repeat it. 2. In the spelling part, don't require the user to type spaces, commas, etc. let the program supply them. It doesn't help that the program is is inconsistent. For instance, a space is sometimes left out between a comma and the next word of the sentence. Sometimes there is a period at the end of a sentence and sometimes not. 3. I would like the course to continue for one or two additional levels, including a more conversational oriented one.
All in all, very much worth the very reasonable price.

perfect use of app interface

This app gives you six words or phrases in French, spoken as you see a picture that matches the word or phrase. L'arbre est grande for example is accompanied by a picture of a big tree, another shows a small tree, then a short skirt, a long skirt, a blue car, and a red car. Then the phrase is spoken and spelled out, and you need to pick one of six pictures. Makes for easy immersion, requires active involvement, et minimizes mistakes. What B.F. Skinner would have wanted in a perfect learning tool, but he probably never imagined the colorful pictures, which really drive the words and images into your brain. I am a beginner, so may not be right for an expert, but it quickly gets more complex, and what a great way to start, and for a mere 3 or 4 bucks. Makes me wonder how app designers can survive with such low prices for such nicely designed products.

Excellent learning method

This is the best way to learn how to understand a language. Text won't get in the way. Writing is only a representation of language. It is not the language itself. This app lets you turn off text so you can focus your ear and mind.

My only suggestion to the developer is to include more cards that are more identical except for the concept being focused on. This will help learners stay away from using other cues to recognize the image. (I'd suggest this for the later lessons, as this cue system helps initially but can become a crutch later on.)
