Editors’ Choice

For a game this easy to jump in and play, Galaxy on Fire 3 dazzled us with how deep its journey goes. The hunt for interstellar criminals took us from raging dogfights to star-hopping exploration—with lots of fun ship upgrades and characters to meet along the way. We love how epic it all feels—and how gorgeous this vast universe is.

Strayed too far from first two games

I was so excited to see GOF3 come out. But sadly it turned out to be another potentially spectacular game ruined by the dev focusing on micro transactions. The first two GOF games were simply amazing. Granted you had to pay for the game, and GOF2 originally didn’t have micro transactions, and you could tell the devs put a lot into the games. Even after GOF2 added 2 expansions, one optional space station (you could buy it or you could win it in game by defeating some super hard, but fun to kill, pirates), and micro transactions for in game currency, you could tell the devs focused on gameplay. Now GOF3 is out and just about EVERYTHING you do has to be done by spending money to get the higher end stuff. The game also strayed too far away from the other two where you would fly to different space stations for various missions, and there were also factions you could raise or lower your rep. Now it’s just following one mission after the other seemingly without the variety. Sorry to see another dev brought down by following the micro transactions trend! They had such potential to keep making epic games!

Repetitive and shallow.

I finished the storyline (Acts 1 and 2) shortly after the game came out. It wasn't spectacular, but passable.

Since then, the entire game has consisted of replaying the same four or five missions over, and over, and over ad nauseaum.

Every few months, the dev team releases a "patch" which talks about "game improvements and bug fixes." No new content. Nothing of note. Act 3 STILL hasn't been released.

If you've played GOF 1 and 2, you will be sorely disappointed in this game. It's clear that the release was rushed and forced. The gameplay mechanics are decent, but that's literally ALL there is, and you will get tired of running the same mission over and over again real quick.

This could have been a great game. Unfortunately, the devs released an unfinished beta with virtually no content. By the time Act 3 comes out, everyone will have long-forgotten about this title.

Edit: Still no act 3, no new features, nothing. This title is a genuine embarrassment to the GoF brand.
