Open iTunes to buy and download apps.
Want to let people know where you are? This very simple app creates an email with a link to your location. The link is formed so other iPhone users will see your location in the Maps application.
Just open it up, wait for the accuracy to show a good fix, and press the button! It's simple! It's free!
What's New in Version 1.1
There is now a screen in the Settings area for setting eMail defaults. There are also some minor tweaks in the display.
Excellent program! Just needs one thing
The program is excellent and useful, I no longer have to explain my location! Just one way to make this program better would be to also offer the option of sending the location hyperlink through text messages. People usually are more attentive and respond more promptly to text messages then emails. Sending the hyperlink through emails is inconvenient because they show up more slowly and I have to explain to the other person what email to look for. Another problem is having to sift through junk mail. People only check their email only once in a while but with text messages they respond to immediatly. With text messages the location hyperlink can be brought up casually during conversation. Another benefit to offering the option of texting the location would be that you don't have to know every persons email you can have the program work with the contact list. In other words this program is awesome, it just needs a feature were you can text the location (have it open the contact list to select the person you to text the hyperlink as well as offer manual entery) as well as allowing the user to choose to send through email. Other then that it's an awesome program and highly reccomend it.
Great, needs optional hourly pings for saving lives
First thank you. The only problem I had was my email kept thinking the email was spam, so I had to retrain my dumb email.
One feature would be a literal lifesaver to incorporate is to allow hourly or half hour position pings using calendar or alarm so if you travel that short cut which winds out of cell phone range, somebody will have a trail to narrow the search. Every winter here in California it happens, at great public cost and risks in rescues, tragically some die as they have to change winter routes and become stuck beyound cell phones with no breadtrail sent to some loveone. Please Apple, allow this developer to created a visable autopinging option for a breadtrail of life
Really neat program!
It appears that the publisher's site (home and support) is not built yet? The altitude feature does not seem to work, but the location feature is very accurate. I do wish the user could create a default email subject line vs the "hereIam" presently created by the Here I Am application. With a little more work, this will be a five+ star! August 30, 2008 Updated re v 1.1: Nice touch (the user email options), but the "Altitude" display (which has never functioned in original or this version) makes it appear that an unfinished product has been released. Well, actually, I guess that is accurate. Publisher should either delete this part of the display or make it functional. Just makes it look sloppy, which is a shame, since it otherwise functions very well.
