Vrs 1.1.2 Update

This is a good front-end for WhatsApp. I use this when I want a “real” computer/keyboard, rather than my phone, to type a message. I can still send pictures in addition to text messages, which is cool. They make sure that your phone is nearby (it always is) and it easily gets on the same session by putting up a QR-code that you scan with the phone’s camera, to sync them up initially, which makes it easy to do. Nice implementation all around! Where WhatsApp is really helpful is when people, (especiallly with varying phone brands) are in different countries. That’s when the app is quite cool. Regular SMS messages don’t always work, or if they do, your carrier might charge more to send/receive them, but not so with WhatsApp.

great app but one flaw

I use the app for a couple of month and really like it. It’s easy to use and allows you to use your computer keyboard to write whatsapp messages instead of typing on the tiny phone keyboard. I actually prefer using whatsapp in this way instead of using it on my phone. Connecting it to your phone is pretty easy and once the connection is established it’s pretty reliable and easy to reconnect in case it’s needed.
However, since the last update I have one major problem. There’s no way to silence the app on my mac!!! Even when disabling the “play sound for notification” in my notification settings in the systems preferences the app still makes “blip” whenever I get a message. This makes it really annoying when watching a movie or a show while the app is running in the background. Please, please, please dear developers, fix this issue! It was working just fine in the previous version…
Also, I cannot send pictures using the FreeChat app as the drag-and-drop option just wouldn’t work. But I can live without this option or just use my phone for sending pics.
But please, fix the notification issue… thanks!

Best free app for work

My boss and I can share screenshots, documents, and ideas. We can even leave voice messages to leave detailed explanations or ask detailed questions when we are not available for talking on the phone. This lets us message each other while working on the computer without dealing with the tiny phone keyboard as we communicate all day.
