AdGuard Pro is More than just ad blocking in Safari! It’s the most effective adblock browser plugin with firewall.

With AdGuard Pro you can select different DNS service providers, which opens new possibilities: faster and more reliable internet access both for Wi-Fi and cellular connections, parental control, protection from phishing and malware and shielding your DNS traffic against interception and snooping. Add to this the Privacy module that detects trackers in real time and lets you decide which to block and which to let through. And all this on top of the excellent ad blocking in Safari, which has already proven to be of an unrivaled quality by the free AdGuard for iOS version.

Highly customizable AdGuard Pro will make your web surfing safe and fast!

NOTE: if you are using Pro version, there is no need to keep regular AdGuard app on your device.

AdGuard Pro is not just a Content Blocker — it has much more to offer:

— Firewall. Use AdGuard's ability to set up any custom DNS profile to shape your browsing the way you like. Select one of the tested and trusted pre-configured profiles like OpenDNS or Google Public DNS, or set up any of your own. Mind that this requires setting up a fake VPN, but your outgoing traffic is not being routed through any remote server.

— Privacy protection. AdGuard Pro detects all types of trackers that spy on you and highlights them in the request log for you to decide their further fate. Combine this with DNSCrypt support — hide your actions online on DNS level by using any one from the long list of DNSCrypt providers — and you have a level of protection that is hard to achieve by other means.

— Parental control — some DNS providers offer configurations that will protect your children from adult content on the web, often backed up with protection against malicious websites. Use AdGuard Pro to set up one of them and shield your kids from the inappropriate materials online.

— Flexible configuration. Request log allows you to easily track all DNS requests and blacklist anything you don't want to see; vice versa, add to the whitelist any requests you think are unjustly blocked by your current DNS provider.

As AdGuard Pro uses a VPN profile to be able to change DNS settings, it may have compatibility issues with some other VPN-based apps. List of such known apps:

— ExpressVPN
— Shadowrocket
— HotSpot Shield
— OpenVPN Connect
— Opera Free VPN

— Ad blocking in Safari. Blocks any kinds of ads; more than 50 (!) various filters are at your service. So say goodbye to annoying stuff like banners, video ads, popups and such.

— Includes popular adblocker filter subscriptions - EasyList, EasyPrivacy, Fanboy's Annoyances, Malware Domains. Block add like a pro with the public and AdGuard filters.

— Regional and other filters. AdGuard is the first ad blocker that offers language-specific filters. You can now visit websites in different languages — all of them will be filtered.

— Blocking of trackers and social widgets. Special filters block all the counters and trackers to protect your privacy and remove excessive social media buttons.

— Speed acceleration. AdGuard removes tons of rubbish from the web. And clean pages open faster.

We develop AdGuard products for various platforms. For more than 6 years, AdGuard helps all of our users enjoy the safe and clean Internet.

What's New

Version 2.1.0

It is not uncommon when a big update is followed soon-ish with a minor one. This is exactly it: a minor update to tidy up bugs and inconsistencies that slipped past our attention during the v2.0 release. Nothing huge, just bugfixes and quality of life improvements.

2 stars… too intransparent, too buggy

This app does NOT give you an option to remove the VPN profile if you decide not to use the DNS service. You'll have to delete the app to delete the profile… that's rather intransparent.

What's even worse is that it completely cripples my iPhone after a reboot, apps will not open past the splashscreen, Wi-Fi will not connect (settings app freezes when i tap "Wi-Fi"). When I disable the DNS service inside AdGuard, turn on flight mode, then turn on Wi-Fi, only THEN my phone becomes responsive again when using a cellular connection.

Using the AdGuard DNS service will use ~10MB a month, which is beyond my understanding seeing as AdGuard Pro will only create a "local" tunnel and not route traffic through servers. The app either still updates filters on cellular (even though I turned that off) or sends/receives high amount of data when using the DNS service. The more I switch between Wi-Fi and cellular, the higher the cellular data usage of the app. Why?

Developer Response

Hello! Apologies for such a late reply, but I'll try to address all your concerns.

The app is open source, we think this is the highest level of transparency we can possibly achieve. VPN profile you mention can't be removed from the app, this is a purely technical limitation.

You are absolutely correct about the "local" nature of the VPN, there are no remote servers to connect to. 10MB a month you see can be attributed to DNS requests (if you indeed have the cellular filter updates turned off). If you want to investigate this issue further, please contact the support. The same about freezing issue. If you still encounter it in v2.0.0 that is about to hit the appstore, please contact the support team. This is an uknown bug, and we need your assistance to track it down and eliminate.

Needs improvement

4/5 times loading filters into safari results in an error. That makes it frustrating changing filters and nearly impossible to use the element blocking feature. Speaking of that feature, why did you remove the ability to preview the blocked element? The green box highlights what will be blocked but the way some pages are designed, it's not always apparent what exactly is going to actually be blocked. Either way it's moot because after 7 attempts I only got 1 or 2 element blocks successfully loaded into safari. I have under 50,000 rules active as well. Even when I try to disable a filter list it fails to load into safari.

Also, why did the update say the DNS blocking will now work with VPNs and the VPN feature will be taken away? Pro still requires a VPN connection and when I uses an actual VPN no adds are blocked. Disappointing.

Developer Response

Hello! Did you try our new version 2.0.2? The problem with loading filters was finally fixed, preview button is back and a lot of other features.

Won't get past "Loading filters into Safari"

Was using this app. Used to work fine. Now it won't even get past the splash screen where it loads filters. Restarted app, cleared RAM, and even reset phone to new device. I don't even use safari but I can't access the vpn settings now. Thanks a lot.

EDIT: even though fresh install of iOS didn't help, resetting network settings fixed it. Then it came back. And resetting network settings fixed it again. So I just won't be able to auto connect to wifi anymore at this rate......

Developer Response

That's weird! Did you try to reinstall the app? And from which version have the app been updated to v.2.0.2?
upd: if AdGuard UI is running, will you send logs please? In AdGuard menu - Report an issue - Contact support. Also provide guys with more info what is not going right with AdGuard.

upd2: This problem is really bothering me. I filed a bug here: and it would be very helpful if you can join the discussion and provide log file. If AdGuard app doesn't start at all I will tell you how collect console log. Thanks in advance!
