How does speech translation work?
Speech Translation uses different technologies to provide users with voice-enabled translation technology. The technologies that are being used are as follow:
Speech Recognition (conversion from voice to text)
Machine Translation (computing translation using machine learning)
Speech Synthesis (voice computing process to translated language)
Why is my language not supported?
The Pilot translation app is the speech translation system used with the Pilot earpiece, together they provide the full experience with the Pilot Conversation Kit. This product (scheduled for release next May 2017) is designed for conversations in Romance-based languages.
Additional language groups from the current text pool will be added soon. We rely on users’ feedback to outline our future languages so if you have a suggestion on which languages you would like to see added, please send us an email at email@example.com
Why launching a simple speech translation app before releasing Pilot?
“We believe this app will enable our users to become more familiar with Speech translation technology and the Waverly Labs products. Also, Machine Translation is a process which improves over time: the more people use it, the better it gets. Hence, we want to let the community help us improve our technology, ahead of the Pilot earpiece release .” Andrew Ochoa, CEO of Waverly Labs

Please note: The current version of the Pilot translation app requires Internet or data connection. Future versions of the app will allow for offline use.
What's New in Version 1.5.1
- Fix crash
- Minor bug fixes
The whole point I don’t want to your app was I want to have a Translate both sides of a conversation without me having to press the stupid button. Isn’t that why your company exists?
I want to see a freeze in English and it knows it’s English and translated into Spanish. Then, without pressing a button I want to be able to have my Spanish friend say something in it translates it back in English.
No button pressing. Otherwise your app is just as lame as the other apps on the store. Get to work
Some words are off, but for the most part it is very efficient. I think that it has the hardest time with conversational translations.
So far good on translation. Waiting on ear pieces too experience the way this was designed too operate!
