A Spiel des Jahres Recommended game, Jaipur is one of the most most well-loved 2-player tabletop games. Jaipur is a fast-paced card game for two players with a blend of tactics, risk and luck. You are one of the most powerful traders in Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan. You and your opponent duel to demonstrate to the Maharajah that you can earn a greater profit than your competition. At the end of a round, one player receives the Maharajah's seal of excellence, and the first player to earn two seals of excellence wins the privilege of being invited to the Maharajah’s court!

Each turn, you can choose to take one card, exchange your cards for other goods, buy the camels needed to transport your wares, or sell at the market. The sooner you sell and the more you sell of a single good at once, the higher your profit.

If you take cards, you have to choose between taking all the camels, taking 1 card from the market or swapping 2 to 5 cards between the market and your cards. If you sell cards, you get to sell only one type of good per turn, and you get as many chips from that good as you sold cards. The chips’ values decrease as the game progresses, but you get increasingly high rewards for selling sets of 3, 4, or 5 cards of the same good at a time, so it’s all about waiting just the right amount of time to make your trade.

You can’t sell camels, but they are integral to trading and they’re also worth a little something at the end of the round, sometimes enough to secure the win so use them smartly!

Fun game, beautiful art, enjoyable campaign

I think I like the art on the app better than the board game art. Very fun. Personally I haven't had any trouble exiting a game and coming back to it later (I've only done campaign mode.) Works fine on phone, although it does take a chunk of storage and significant battery power to play, that's less of a problem on iPad. I love the variations on the rules in campaign mode and the side stories. I read some of the less positive reviews and apart from acknowledging a few bugs I didn't have any serious problems. I found the hard AIs harder but definitely not unbeatable. You can get a lot of satisfying play out of the game.

Doesn’t save your game

What is the point in playing a game at all if you can’t finish it????!!! Apparently if you pause at all, or if your phone runs out of battery then you lose EVERYTHING! Was really enjoying this game at first, but near the end of the 3rd round - it completely crapped out and lost everything. So despite how enjoyable it COULD be, it’s insanely frustrating to try to use this to get away from the hell that is life for a minute, only for it to say “psyche!” and pull the rug out from under you at the last minute. Don’t put out a game on an app, that is obviously going to have to be put down now and then (which is supposed to be the benefit of having it on the app - versus boardgame version - that you can supposedly pick it up and put it down as needed) and have it NOT CAPABLE of SAVING your progress or even remember you were playing a game in the first place!!!!!!

The AI cheats

For some reason this has yet to be addressed in the reviews, but there is a flaw in the programming that allows the AI character to sell a single good, not requiring the 2+ good minimum. I keep hoping an update would fix this, but it hasn’t yet.

Edited: Clearly you didn’t investigate, I just played 3 games in a row where the AI does this. I took screen shots and submitted a ticket to support. When this gets fixed, I will change my review and give the app 5 Stars.

Developer Response

After investigating it is impossible for an AI to sell a single good.
Could you please contact the support to investigate this:
