Highly Recommend 🔥
I’m a total beginner learning the language on my own and trying to memorize both the Hiragana and Katakana charts. This app helped me memorize both. I like that it has a mini dictionary to let you know what words mean (I’m not too concern about definitions at the moment, I’m strictly focusing on learning each character). The helpful part about this app testing you with words is that it allows the app to throw multiple characters at the same time so that you can memorize multiple ones easier. Lastly, what I also love is that it won’t let you pass to other row of characters until you know the current row well enough. DOWNLOAD IT!
SUGGESTION TO DEVELOPER:
I like that you have the Hiragana and Katakana drills separate, BUUUTTT it would also be nice to have a third drill with a combination of both even if you don’t drill us including actual words. It can just be random characters thrown at us using combination of both Hiragana and Katakana. OR ... if you want, just use the same words but mix the spelling of the words using a combination of both Hiragana and Katakana. Thank you!
Great Daily Review App!
I am in an intro Japanese class, this app was a great addition to my class work and helped me improve recognition of the characters. It was also helpful to get accustomed to different digital fonts used in the app because then it is easier for my brain to recognize characters written in other styles in my daily life like on packages. I like the speaker, I thought she spoke clearly without any accent and there was the option of repeating the words. While this app does not break down the linguistics of Japanese or how to write the characters it is great app to have to review everyday to help you with memorizing them. Simple app, friendly coloring and not complicated! 👍🏽
Just what I was looking for
I’ve tried lots of apps to learn both kanas. Most are pretty straightforward in drilling you single kanas. Kana Drill however challenges you with words from the current set of kana you’re learning. This is something I find highly effective in helping me learn.
Kana Drill also has a very clean and easy navigate UI. One I would expect from a paid app, not a free one. If you’re looking for an app to learn your kanas then I highly recommend Kana Drill!
