A step back for the series
I don’t blame the devs for trying to add new elements to the game, but the problem I have is that every major change made the game worse as a whole. The new way that story missions are presented was a terrible decision. They have become far too tedious to play. My main gripe is the new equipment mechanic that was added. It completely undermines the feel of drawing new characters. In a game like this, I am supposed to feel a twinge of excitement when I use the in-game currency to get a rare character for my team. This was completely destroyed due to the fact that no matter how rare the character is, it is still useless unless you spend more of the currency to gather equipment items. In the first game characters all had their own stats and skills that had various areas of effect. But now all of those factors are determined by equipment. Which means you will be spending currency (and possibly real money) on trying to get good armor, helmets, and two weapons each for all members of your party. No matter how good the RNG is for you, you will need to spend real money or wait many months. They gimped the guardians for money.
Pretty good but with significant flaws.
The original Terra Battle is one of the greatest app games ever but TB2 falls short of the mark. There's much to like but the non-stop crash-fest that they call co-op play is inexcusable. Worse still, some recode ingredients are only available in co-op play so you can't afford to skip this mode. I'm mystified by "real" reviews that don't mention this issue since it has plagued the game from the start.
I applaud the devs for making the game free but you should be aware that, like in TB1, it's a long slow grind for free players. I've drawn 50 pulls so far and gotten no Z class draws and only a single SS class. Everything else was trash. And all 50 pulls were drawn during bonus events with an increased chance for quality drops. So you'd better have a fat wallet or a lot of patience.
In conclusion, it's a decent game. But after playing the superb TB1 "decent" is a bit of a disappointment.
Edit Jan 2018: after the latest patch my game now force-closes and kicks me to the home screen. I rate the game zero stars as it’s literally unplayable. Tech support was prompt, but useless. You’d be a fool to spend money on this game.
Very fun and deep gameplay
I would give it a five star but it has hiccups here and there, the most recent which I hope gets fixed, is that it in the story missions and even when i choose a different chapter it won’t let me move my characters out of the battle box. Please fix soon so I can gather more nucleotides!!!😀
