Customer Reviews

MindNode 5 is a professional workflow necessity!

MindNode 5 builds upon the 2nd version without creating a bloated interface. It is as clean and functional as the Apple technology it runs on. I firmly believe that mind mapping is a must for creative professionals. It effectively allows you to conceptulize large amounts of data and refine information visually. With that being said, MindNode offers a better UI/UX than it’s other competitors on the App store. I have installed the trial version of Simple Mind and although it is packed with more features, it’s interface comes off as clunky and not very user-friendly in comparison to MindNode. One such example is that to import pictures you must go through a file-browser as opposed to drag-and-drop. Also, Simple Mind also doesn’t allow for convenient picture preview window when pressing the spacebar (albeit it runs on more OS’s). For $40 I would consider this software a good value considering its practical applications and would definitely advise upgrading. The developers have been responsive to my messages and I recommend sending information to IdeasOnCanvas regarding MindNode’s functionality and user-interface. If you are unsure about integrating this product into your workflow, get the 2-week trial version before purchasing!

I use it daily on commercial projects. It works great!

I’ve used dozens of mind mapping solutions over my 10+ years as a designer/developer/consultant. So far MindNode is my favorite. The integration between phone and computer allows me to work on projects when I’ve got a few minutes on my phone and it stays synced up w/ my work stations for development.

The process of connecting mulitple parts of a large project allows me to get a good understanding of how the informational design of an application or website will work prior to any detailed work takes place. MindNode has actually surfaced some underlying problems that I may not have noticed until far after a project was complete.

While no mind mapping solution is 100% oriented to the way my mind works, MindNode comes the closest. Thanks for the great work!:)

still needs visual refinement

Been using Mindnode since way before the App Store, and it’s always been a great tool. Version 5 feels like an evolution, but no huge visible changes from version 2.

Since we’re making this big jump from version 2 to version 5 (???), it would be nice to see some visual refinements. How about an interface for defining styles for each level of the node hierarchy? Or a gallery of user-submitted styles online somewhere (the way Ulysses does it)?

Again, this is a decent evolution of the app, and I was willing to fork over $15 to upgrade, but if we’re jumping ahead three full version numbers, you’d think there would be some bigger changes.
