New Lower Price!
UPDATE 1.5 is now ready for iOS 4 and includes a few updated icons for the iPhone 4.
Five Dice is a fun and elegant take on a classic dice game. Now available on your iPhone and iPod Touch. Play solo, or pass your phone around and compete for the highest score. You have the best mobile platform on the planet, why not have your favorite games.
The object of Five Dice is to score as many points as possible by rolling the five dice to complete a set of scoring combinations.
Gorgeous graphics and refined game play help Five Dice set a new standard for solo games on the iPhone.
Notes on Language support: Five Dice will run in the language the iPhone/iPod Touch is set to.
Don't forget to check out BattleAtSea, also in the iTunes App Store.
What's New in Version 1.54
Fixes a potential crash in iOS 4.3 and above when scoring.
Fixes occasional crash when starting a new game.
Other minor improvements.
The universal version for iPad and iPhone is almost done and will also be bringing Game Center support.
Nice app, very well done. Three things would make it even better. The first two are game-play flaws, the last is just mildly annoying:
1. If you've already filled "Five Dice" (yahtzee) with a zero, a roll of five of a kind should qualify for 25 points in Full House, but the game gives zero.
2. In the same situation, if you roll five of a kind on the first or second roll, but you have no way to get points with it (e.g. five 3's when all you need is 2's), the game doesn't allow you to discard all dice and throw the remaining roll(s).
3. If you don't get a top 20 score (ie. virtually every game after you've played a couple hundred), the game says "Oops! You need to practice more." No, I don't think so. I played fine, I just didn't get lucky dice this time. Ironically, the more you play, the more likely it is you'll see this silly little message. How about "Nice Game!"... or maybe no message. As my grandmother would say, if you don't have something nice to say, just don't say anything at all.
But on the whole I still like the game and would recommend it over other Yahtzee-like apps I sampled.
Two Player Option
We have enjoyed this game for a long time but the two player option had disappeared. Please bring it back!
Best game on iPhone/iPod
I was obcessed with this game on the jailbroken phone. Now I love it even more. 4 dollars is too much compared with other games but is a great deal compared to the cost of a value meal.
