Simply the Best Out There
Do not let any bad reviews or unfamiliarity with the yahoo brand stop you from downloading this. This app gives you the the best organization options and total information available of any sports app, all in a beautiful user interface. It covers as many or as little sports as you want with plenty of customization. I use it every day and always will as long as it keeps getting better, which it has. One suggestion would be to add a "power conferences" option to the college basketball subset to offer a middle ground between top 25 and all Division 1, and always put your favorites on the top of the page, even if they are not top 25. Also, an old bug has appeared again. When you select the month of February or March in college basketball team schedules, it slides the moths over to the left so only November is visible. All in all, the perfect app.
At one time, the best, now not
I've been critical of this app since Yahoo acquired it. This update was the first update I've seen yahoo do that not only did not negatively add to the bloat this app usually receives but added to the features. Give credit where credit is due. Keep adding updates like this, remove some of the crap we don't need, and I'll continue to improve my review and add stars to my rating. Up to three stars now, that's much better than one I used to give. Thanks, Yahoo.
Version 5.8 adds pop and peek. It works as you may expect. Kind of pointless, but that's not Yahoo's fault.
I miss the football ("soccer") transfers. I could not possibly care less about NFL or university NFL and it seems these are the only two things this app actually takes seriously. Last year, 300 million watched the Super Bowl. In 2013, over 1 billion watched the UCL quarter final between Manchester United and Real Madrid. But please, continue as if NFL is the biggest sport ever.
An almost great app
This app is almost perfect for what I want it for. I want an app to keep track of my favorite teams scores. Except for 2 things, it does this relatively well.
1) This is a big one, and the reason for a 2 star instead of a 4 star review. I want the app for scores and scores only. However, the "trending news" setting keeps turning itself on every few days. I only want football and basketball scores. I don't want random news updates about European soccer players and women's tennis. This is ruining an otherwise pretty good app.
2) This is a minor annoyance, but when getting updates for football scores you'll get a notification for a touchdown. Then, seconds later you'll get another one for the extra point. Considering the nature of extra points in football, this is a strange design decision? I'd prefer to just get 1 single notification after the XP is either made or missed.
