Want to study Go (a.k.a. 囲碁 [Igo], 围棋 [WeiQi] or 바둑 [Baduk]), but just want something light while on the go? Each time you load this program, it will randomly choose a game from its collection of over a thousand games to show you. Just tap play, sit back and relax as a professional Go game unfolds in front of your eyes. Soon you will start to recognize patterns that will improve your own play.
The game moving too fast? Just tap the screen to advance one move at a time. The slider at the bottom can be used to jump to any point of the game. When you get tired of one game, just tap New and watch another random game.
Note: you cannot play Go on your device using this app. It will only let you watch professional Go games at random from its collection. Just a nice intellectual way to pass the time when you’re bored somewhere. I hope you will enjoy it!
Great to learn from--and a few suggestions!
I'm a long-time 8 kyu player with no test to study; but I've already spent more time on go in the past month than in the past year, thanks to this great tool. A few suggestions for the next version... Right now every time you exit, you lose the game you were looking at. It'd be much better to save the current game and position. Also, some sort of history would be nice so I could go back and look at the game I viewed three games ago. Finally, it's way too easy to hit the 'new' key when on the metro... Perhaps a 'confirm' option before losing the game you've been studying?
But don't get me wrong...this is a fantastic program...it could just be even better!
Definitely worth the four dollars. Easy to simply watch while in the middle of a boring lecture ;)
Great go tool
This App is really useful, I use it all day in my spare time. I hope they will include handicap games in the next update; it will be super then!
btw, I totally agree with the review below that says we need a way to save the game and position.
This app singlehandedly imparted to me the go issues I was grappling with but could not understand.
