Customer Reviews

This app is pretty good for iPads.

I have actual Kindles; the Fire, the Paperwhite, and the Voyage. But I often use the app because I have my iPad with me a lot. I saw that someone was annoyed with the page refresh. It's a small annoyance but not that big of a deal IMO. I also saw about the page numbers and progress. On the book I'm currently reading, you can get this by tapping the lower left corner. It cycles through all of that info on each tap. I've seen the text shifting problem too. When you go ahead or back, then return to the page you were on, you sometimes get a reformatted page. But that sometimes happens on the real Kindle too. It's also minor. My only gripe is that we really need more font choices. But everything else has been almost perfect as far as I'm concerned. I'm able to read, highlight, and get definitions just fine. I'm satisfied.

Cannot file books

I love reading books with the Kindle books on my iPad. It's convenient and I like that I can change the background color and brightness of the pages. What bothers me very much is that I can't put the books into folders after they're read. With hundreds of books, it's hard to keep up with what I've read and what I haven't read. Then, when I open a book to see if I have read it, it puts it at the top of the list again, putting it in front of books I haven't read. Maybe I shouldn't buy so many books at one time or maybe I should write down what I have read, purchased, and not read. That kind of defeats the purpose of convenience with. This is a major problem for me. Surely it's not too hard to come up with some type of a folder system? I would pay money for that...even a subscription.

Watch Out When Updating

I refuse to update my Kindle for iPad to this newest version, 4.7.1. Why? When they recently updated to 4.7, I emailed them, very upset that the page numbers, or location, had disappeared from the lower left corner of each page, leaving only the stupid time left in the book or chapter (totally dumb) in its place, and the only way to find the location or page number was to tap the middle of the bottom of the page.

Then once you went to the next page, that page info disappeared again. Ridiculous! Is an eBook supposed to read like a real book, or not?

I received an email quickly in reply, telling me several people had complained about the problem, and that they would work to fix it. It took a few days, but it was fixed and is fine now.

So, they just came up with version 4.7.1, and my husband downloaded it to test it, and they have again REMOVED the page or location numbers from the lower left corner, and once again you can only view them by tapping the lower middle of the page! Then once you turn the page, the info is gone again! I can't believe they fixed a problem many complained about, only to turn right around with a new update which unfixes it.

I will not update to 4.7.1.
