Shoot your fighter’s missiles to blow away waves of incoming enemy aliens in this classic stage-based shooter. Gameplay is very intuitive. It’s easy to pick-up and play!
Rediscover Galaga’s trademark “dual-fighter” power-up system, in which shooting ability is enhanced by rescuing captured fighters. This high-risk, high-reward feature has thrilled generations of players. Test your abilities with the interleaved “challenging stages”.
"Galaga Remix" offers play of both the original 1980’s arcade game, and an enhanced remix version with extra features including intense boss battles, 9 power-ups types, and a variety of background images illustrating your fighter’s journey from Earth to the Galaga system.

Faithful update of a great classic.
This game faithfully recreates the original Galaga and gives the series a fresh coat of paint while retaining the original core gameplay elements. I would definitely recommend to any fan of the series.
This is not to say that the game is perfect however, I think the controls leave a lot to be desired. In remix mode, you are offered three options, digital, slider and accelerometer, however, as far as I'm concerned slider is the only usable control scheme. In digital and accelerometer, your ships speed is fixed and is very slow, in slider you can accurately control how fast your ship moves and escape fire much quicker than would be possible with the other options. Now, for me, slider is a perfectly adequate control scheme but it bothers me that they would offer alternatives when they are so clearly inferior to the point of being downright broken. It should be noted that this is not a problem when playing classic mode, in classic mode all three controls methods move the ship at the same speed.
I think Namco can find a better solution to controlling this game, but regardless of this issue, I've accepted that slider is the only way to play remix mode and after doing so I found myself enjoying the game very very much.
It would be 5 stars...
They fixed it. It took awhile but they fixed it. I promised 5 stars because this is a 5 star remix and original Galaga. If you don't mind spending $3 buy it. But I got it for $1.
Original A few week before:
But it crashes. This is the first app that has ever crashed on me even after restarting my iPod and re-downloading. I cannot give you five stars until fixed. This game is 5 stars (when working) and 6 because I got it for $1. One star for one dollar. You get the other 4 when it works from me and a million others. I have the 4.0 software on the 3rd gen iTouch 32 gb if that helps at all.
Could be better
When I bought this game, I was looking forward to being able to play the classic game like in an old arcade. BEWARE: if you are buying this game to play the classic version, don't. The control interface for the classic version is horrible, with the controls being unresponsive and hard to use accurately. However, I found the remix mode to be pretty satisfying: it does justice to the original version but adds some cool new features. I like the bosses and the "challenge" levels. Improvements for an update would be to make the classic in interface USABLE (why not just use the same control type as the remix?) and maybe add some more levels to the remix mode and add an option for portrait orientation in remix.
