A new, fast-paced GAME based on Texas hold 'em.
Improve your Texas hold 'em game with "Texas Pick 'Em".
Play Over 200 Hands an hour- compete and learn
A fun way to increase your Poker IQ, learn the best starting hands, what their percentages are to win the hand, and how they hold up after the FLOP, the TURN and the RIVER.
Earn bonus points as you race against the clock.
Choose your cards carefully, because three strikes and you're out! And don't worry about Bad Beats: in Texas Pick 'Em, they are good (you get an extra strike credit in order to extend your game).
Compete against other serious poker players for the global high scores in various categories (next version).
This game can be used as a warm up before a poker session or tournament.
What's New in Version 1.2
- Tilt: auto-pause after 2 consecutive strikes to allow you to collect yourself
- New clubs graphics, to make them more distinct from spades
- More weight given to faster hand selection
Great potential; needs work
Potentially fantastic learning tool, but needs a couple improvements: 1) a "press to continue" button is needed after each hand, to give the user time to digest the result of the hand, and 2) there needs to be some way of understanding where the percentages are coming from.
Suggestion: after each hand, the user could have the ability to review each each stage of the hand and, by clicking on a particular player's cards, see what the chances are for those cards producing each kind of finishing hand (straight, flush, etc). Then beginners could learn more and experts could verify the relative percentages.
Barring that, one shouldn't trust this program's valuation of hands too much, although it's still useful for learning to speed up one's card recognition.
Alright game, but could be better.
I enjoyed playing this game, but there are definitely some improvements that could be made. The game should pause after each hand and allow the player to look at all of the hands and see why the one that won, won. The game should also explain to the player where these odds are coming from, like what hands are expected or possible. I also feel like the 'strikes' system should be removed, or at least should be less harsh. I would rather lose a bunch of money for choosing the wrong hand rather than just stopping the game if I lose too much.
I really enjoy playing this game, as it's helping me learn to recognize good hands and odds of winning. However, one thing I would like is for the game to slow down a little after the end of the round, so you can have some time to figure out why the winning hand is the winning hand. Sometimes I'll lose a round and I don't really know why, but I don't have the time to analyze it because the next round has already started. If you add the option to review plays, then I think this would definitely deserve 5 stars.
