A long time (and many bits) ago, three daring adventurers set out to explore all the dungeons on a mysterious island!
Enjoy light-hearted, dungeon raiding fun in this neo-retro take on classic RPGs! Take on missions to explore caverns, forests, ruins and defeat the monsters lurking within. Spend a few minutes to clear one dungeon, or a few days to uncover all the secrets of The Isle of 8-Bit Treasures.
- Over 60 missions
- Tons of loot
- Upgradeable weapons
- Simple controls
- Unique Weapon Reel battle system
- Three uber-cute playable characters--Swordsman, Witch, and Hunter--each with a different play-style
- Create new weapons & dungeons from the music in your iPhone or iPod touch! (Requires iPhone OS 3.0)
HOW TO PLAY:
1. Pick a character
2. Customize your weapon
3. Pick a dungeon & mission

Buyer Beware: You Are Gambling If You Buy
I liked this game at 1st. It feels like a mini roguelike but you have a better chance in keeping your rewards because it's short. There are only a few levels (5 or less) to navigate so the lack of a mid-dungeon save feature isn't so bad. I like being able to make weapons out of music and the quick pace of the game. It makes me feel an intense feeling of urgency to get out of there as quick as I can vs tougher enemies. The items to cast spells aided this urgency because I could run out.
However, this game should only be $0.99 at most since it's so short and there isn't even a lite version. Therefore, whoever buys is making a gamble especially with crashes after my 1st playthrough. The multiple missions, using music for your weapons/dungeons and 3 characters can vary your playthroughs quite a bit. I'll rate higher when they lower the price and fix the crashes. The good outweighs the bad in my opinion but it's understandable why this game has mixed reviews.
I absolutely adore this game, mostly because it's a dungeon crawler. I really like the fact of creating a dungeon and weapons with your music. But what I really want to see in this is a custom character creator instead of having just the 3 preset characters. Like you make your own pixelated character (build pixel by pixel) or have a little generator with preset items such as clothing, gender, starting weapons, hair, ect, while you still keep the magician, swordsman (or woman) and archer class. Adding more classes could seem more interesting too.
All in all, I would give this a perfect score, but my real only complaint is the difficulty. Maybe add difficulty levels you can switch to your hearts content?
Would be my #1 Game App Except....
Man, this has all the ingredients to be the best Dungeon Crawl for i-devices, but it needs a few changes.
The battle system is a great idea (rotating specials), graphics are pleasant, music and sound are top notch. Love the create your own weapon feature from music tracks!
This game is brutally hard. I love the idea of trying to make it down each dungeon and survive with found treasures, but too bad you can't keep your earned hit points - that would have made this game amazing. Everything resets, so you're a novice at the beginning of each dungeon you explore, and if you didn't survive the last attempt, chances are, you'll have no special found powers (treasures) to aid you with the new one. The game is way too tough, and addictive, but in the end, frustration begins to take over fun after endless attempts with little progress to show.
