I don't know what everyone is complaining about with the control. In the settings you can set the sensitivity from 1 through 10, I personally have mine set on 6 and it works just fine. The first few levels I played I was swerving around a little bit but I quickly got the hang of it. I just wasn't used to tilt controlled steering.
This is an excellent racing game with good graphics and a lot of replay value. Perfect for picking up and racing a few levels. I don't know how this compares to other racing games, but LGR2 is one of my favorite games. Definitely worth 2.99.
My only complaint would be that when you race a level, after you finish it automatically takes you to the next level. Then you have to pause and go back to the home screen to pick which level you want to race. I'd like it to automatically take you back to level select after each race. Other than that, excellent game.
I've actually had this game for a while and only started playing it recently. At first I agreed with what others have said and thought it was simply too hard. A couple of things that have helped me get into it - set the sensitivity to "1" and for the first 10 races in the alpha circuit, stick to using just the Scarab racer. The others just aren't quite fast enough it seems to me and without speed, you can't use the weapon powerups to knock other players back.
The trick to winning the race (at least up to where I'm at currently) is that you've GOT to get as many of the yellow speed powerups as possible - the white ones are even better when you can get them. I'm only starting to think there's a reason to use the brake on track 11. Up until now I haven't had a use for it but track 11 seems to have at least one sharp turn that you just can't muddle through at full speed.
The missile and beam weapons are good for knocking other players back after you manage to catch up to them... I don't find the bombs or the trident all that useful myself. The game is definitely tough but not impossible. Sometimes you've got to replay the same track quite a few times to get accustomed to it... I'm currently trying to beat the 11th race on the alpha circuit.
If I put on some good game playing music, sometimes I can kind of "zen" into the game.
Still Needs Some Work
Before I bought this app I read some reviews for the previous version. They all said that the game had good graphics, but bad controls. I looked and there were no reviews for the latest version, so I figured the latest version wouldn't have the control problems the previous version had. I can now tell you that after playing this app for ten minutes the control problems still exist. It's very hard to navigate your way through the game's snakelike tracks when you can barely control your ship! Slamming into the walls/barriers of the track gets old quickly. Also the orientation of the game doesn't change when you rotate your device. This makes it awkward to hold your iPod Touch or iPhone and play this game when your headphones are plugged in. My advice is don't buy this app and save your money for something else. There are a ton of other racing apps in the App Store that are far better than this one!
