Remember the classic hangman? Well, kiss it goodbye! -- With Hangman ⓇⓈⓈ you play with real-time news ;) Every game you play is always new!
Hangman ⓇⓈⓈ automatically downloads for you the latest top news from Internet. When you play at the easy level you have to figure out one word from a random news article title. At the medium, hard, and expert levels respectively two, three, and four words
Hangman ⓇⓈⓈ is Hangman + Point System, Runs, and Online Leaderboards. Discover the next evolution of Hangman with amazing graphics, animations, and ease of use. This is a Hangman like one you have never experienced before ;)
To the classic Hangman, we added:
=> A smart point system, wherein your score is based on 1) the value of each number multiplied (at the time of its match) by a multiplier that decreases in time and 2) the value of letter multiplied (at the time of its completion) by the decreasing multiplier
=> Thanks to Game Center & OpenFeint, you can now rank and compare Hangman ⓇⓈⓈ scores and achievements against friends and strangers
=> Hangman ⓇⓈⓈ also counts the runs, that is, each uninterrupted sequence of games won, and adds them to the online leaderboards
=> You have a number of hints to help you play (more at the easy, less at the hard level)
You gain access to medium level after you win the easy level 5 times consecutively. This also applies for the higher levels
What's New in Version 4.2
Fun but flawed
This is a fun, creative twist on Hangman, as you're guessing words that are blanked out from news headlines. You get the headline, missing two words, and a tiny bit of context from the article at the bottom of the screen. Play is smooth and the interface easy to navigate. (No comment on the sound, since I play with my phone silenced.)
So why three stars? Two reasons: one, the context clues at the bottom of the screen often consist of two lines of redacted words, with only a couple useless words like "at" and "with" showing. That makes the context completely useless. The bigger problem, though, is that the game sometimes makes a proper name one of the blank headline words to guess. Since the stories come from all over the world, sometimes there's no way to know that name even if you're well-informed. It would be nice if the developers put in a dictionary so that, if a word isn't in an English dictionary, it isn't made into a blank. That would solve the proper name issue in most cases
Still, the game is fun and I play it now and then until a proper name ends my streak.
Fun and good for the brain
(I still) Really like this game. It's not just mindless "guess the letters." Gets you thinking about some current events. Interface is very good - though the "clues" are a little lacking. Text for the clues seem to come from the news source - often as run-on sentences and repeated data. Developers: you only have a limited amount of space to work with, would be nice if the clues didn't repeat data.
Otherwise, the RSS nature of the game keeps the words fresh. Try it, you'll like it.
Great game but
There are some topics that are a bit too sensitive for such a game as Hangman. I recently came across a current news topic of Sandra Bland. A young woman who died recently by hanging. Imagine the image when one loses this particular level and is left with a brown stick figure hanging with the word dead in all caps. Imagine if her family plays this game. That just too far. I'm sure keeping the game up-to-date with current events was truly the only motive and maybe even auto-sourced, but that level of insensitivity is absolutely negligent on the creators behalf. Please consider the content used for this type of game.
