Documents is a must have app for your iPhone and iPad!
What's New in Version 5.0
The biggest update of the year:
◆ Clean, flat and razor sharp design
We carefully applied iOS 7 design philosophy to Documents 5. The application fits the new iPad and iPhone perfectly! It looks great, feels remarkably polished, with even minor details taken care of.
◆ Completely new file manager
Documents 5 works with PDF files that are stored on the iPad and iPhone. This is the reason why file management has been such an integral part of Documents for over a year.
◆ Drag & Drop Files, anywhere
Move files and folders with your finger to any destination: to the parent folder, to subfolders, combine with other files to create a separate folder. You can even drag the files directly to Dropbox or iCloud to upload them to your accounts.
Documents 5 allows you stack frequently opened documents and folders on a sidebar for instant, one-tap access. This will speed up your ability to access most-used files.
◆ Color Tags
The ability to attach color tags to files and folders, first seen in Mac OS X, now comes to the iPad and iPhone. Prioritize or simply give your documents a unique look.
◆ Background Downloads
Downloading documents from online services like Dropbox now works in the background. Those who need a full-featured downloads manager now have it in Documents 5.
◆ Windows Shares (SMB) support
Windows Shares are now accessible in Documents 5. You can connect to shared folders on your Windows computer and sync files between your iPad or iPhone and PC.
Add-ons are features and applications deeply integrated with Documents that extend its capabilities. They allow you to sign documents and fill in forms, print files and convert them to PDF and even scan paper documents.
+ Annotate and Edit PDFs with PDF Expert
+ Scan Documents and Receipts with Scanner Pro
+ Print Documents and Web Pages with Printer Pro
+ Convert everything to PDF with PDF Converter
This should be installed by default on idevices!
I originally got this for storing and viewing PDFs and some other office documents, but I soon found out that it will store, organize, and play music and videos so much better than the default iOS interface! Finally, I can put albums of MP3s in real FOLDERS and have total control of how they're organized and not have to deal with the brain dead iOS organization that will often split up songs from the same album into a separate album for every song if there is even a slight difference in the artist name! But I still have the option of loop and shuffle! Videos also work and are much easier to organize. I now use this to store ALL my music/videos! Plus, upload/download from Linux and Windows is a snap and isn't tied to iTunes, which is a huge relief considering how slow and unintuitive iTunes is to manage files. This reads all the docs I need it to and then some. Really a stellar app that should be mandatory for all idevices. Perfect! The only other feature I would like to see is the ability to password protect individual folders instead of all or none like it is now.
Just what I was looking for
This app fills a gap I didn't really realize I had before: a decent file manager and organizer on the iPad.
I found this app when I was searching for something that would allow me to search within PDF files, so that I can upload reference material to my iPad and be able to search through it when I need it. It can do that, but it can do so much more.
Being able to create your own folders for organization is awesome. It means that I can properly organize my reference material and move it around as I see fit.
This app allows you to create your own text files as well: it's revolutionized how I keep track of my meeting notes. The greatest weakness (in my opinion) of the built-in Notes app was that there are no directories: you've got one list of all your notes. With this app, I can have a list of my meeting notes organized by date separated from my list of great quotes separate from whatever other structure I need.
And I can freely transfer files with and without iTunes: to and from DropBox or Google Drive or any SFTP server. I'm just getting started, but this app is great.
Perfect File Manager
As a file manager, Documents 5 has plenty of features, including syntax highlighting, file compression, drag&drop and music playback. It works smoothly and opens large files quickly.
Supports a wide variety of cloud services. You can also transfer files between local systems on the same network. Star, unzip and import photos and videos from the camera roll. Sending multiple files as email attachments or compressing them into a single zip file is as simple as a few taps.
You can save webpages and convert them to PDF. The internal web browser offers a reliable download manager too. Downloads take place in the background, so you don't have to stop working on other things while the app is downloading. The file viewer works perfectly. Converting simple text files into rich-text format and highlighting PDF files are supported. The player allows you to rewind and fast forward the song. You can also shuffle and replay tracks.
If you're looking for a full-featured file viewer, file manager and downloader, then you came to the right place.
