Requesting your Uber is easy—here’s how it works:

- You’ll see your driver’s picture, vehicle details, and can track their arrival on the map.
- Payment can be made by credit card, cash in select cities, Apple Pay, PayPal, and more.
- After the ride, you can rate your driver and provide feedback to help us improve the Uber experience. You’ll also get a receipt by email.

Customer Reviews

Unreliable! (I gave 5 stars so my complaint appears on top)

Dear Uber,
I am really annoyed by the services you had given me. When i called for a ride (like this one) you made me wait for my driver for 8 minutes, then you kick off my driver (when he is just 1-2 mins away) and give me a new driver which i had to wait again for another 7 mins! That was past 11pm and i was waiting in the dark, cold and agitated! These didn’t just happened once! Most of the time it’s when i am in a rush. One time you gave me 3 drivers (kicking off the first two) that made me wait for more than 30 minutes to finally picked me up. The thing is, you kick off my previous driver after you made me wait that long and he is just a minute away. And you didn’t even compensate my wasted time and no promotions at least to compensate me. You only gave $2 compensation when the driver arrives late (from your estimated ETA) at the destination. I am going to work. What excuse do i give my boss? That the Uber app is unreliable? And does the $2 compensate for the late arrival excuse at work? No! Why can’t you do your job properly? And why don’t you list all the supposed to be driver that you kicked off at my history so that there’s a better track and explain why you kicked them off? obviously that driver didn’t cancel me coz he is just a minute away to get me! You are useless and unreliable! Very bad service!

From unsatisfied agitated rider.

No real Resolve to issues

I deleted this app after Uber charged me cancellation fees for a driver who could not locate me. I was waiting out in the cold. Their new updates prevent you from voicing the truth. I cancelled out of frustration after waiting like 17 minutes in the cold, and knowing inevitably that My classes would end before I even set foot on campus.I even tried to help the driver , but he passed me like seven times. I believe he did this willfully as I am sure he did many pickups in that location. They edited my trip details to say I ordered a ride to a different destination, and have since refused to reimburse me. An expected arrival of 3 minutes was drawn out. I contacted Uber, and they offered no real solution, only that I was charged because I cancelled. They edited my trip details to say I ordered a ride to a different destination, and have since refused to reimburse me. They avoid your concerns as you are only able to report per their app choices. I'll stick to the bus or even Lyft from now on. " Only responses in this area will be responded to" in the email communications. That is just another way to ignore customers. I hope this is not deleted to keep their false image.

Finally fixed GPS tracking policy - because they had to

They finally fixed the invasive user tracking, just about one week before iOS 11 made it impossible for them to continue tracking indiscriminately. The app is fine, but the company sure knows how to look untrustworthy.

Prior review:

Location tracking is all or nothing with Uber. Normal apps offer "track only when using", but Uber demands "Always track". If the past year has taught us anything, it's "don't trust Uber to do the right thing".

It looks like they're not in a hurry to listen to customers' complaints, since there have been at least sixteen updates since I started paying attention to the GPS issue. They now provide prewritten "developer responses" that state "please tell us more". I think the problem is pretty clear, simply change the app to allow less invasive GPS settings, like 99% of apps in the store do.

As an aside, it also seems like they abuse the app update system. Weekly 170MB updates with the same generic change log each week. That's half a gig per month, thanks guys..

Partial workaround for tracking: disable GPS for the Uber app, and only turn it back on if you absolutely need to use the app. And then turn it back off when you get to the destination.

In the meantime I've been using the friendly Uber competitor, and so far it's worked like a charm. Thanks Uber, for encouraging me to check out other apps!
