EpicWin is an iPhone app that puts the adventure back into your life. It’s a streamlined to-do list, to quickly note down all your everyday tasks, but with a role-playing spin. So rather than just ticking off your chores and reminders, completing each one earns you XP to improve and develop your character in an ongoing quest to improve stats, gain riches, and level-up.
✭ To-do list with a Role-Playing Game spin
✭ Streamlined and fast to use
✭ Range of avatars to level-up with
✭ Destroy your chores in animated battles
✭ Points and rewards for completing your tasks
✭ Loot to discover and share
By getting points for your chores it's easier to actually get things done. We all have good intentions but we need a bit of encouragement here and there. Doing the laundry is an epic feat of stamina so why not get stamina points for it?!
The to-do list is fully-featured and supports repeating tasks, displays reminders for overdue events and allows time-critical events to be assigned to specific days, while more aspirational quests can be set to "someday" so you don't lose sight of your goals. And each task completed is destroyed by your avatar, so get your Undead Warrior to beat-up your laundry, or your Treeman to headbutt your overspilling inbox.
The app is supplied with 3 animated avatars (with a further 2 to buy as In-App-Purchases) which grow in characteristics that represent your own life. Will you be a Maiden of Juggled Priorities, or a King of Win? The lifestyle you lead will decide.

Fun concept, but from the description and website video I thought it would be more like an actual game. For example, you earn gold and loot, but you can't do anything with it. This is just a task list with the graphics of a game. Of course, I wouldn't want it to be too game like/distracting- this is a productivity app after all- but I was expecting to be able to DO something periodically as a reward, even if it as as simple as solving a little puzzle. I would totally pay more to upgrade to a more game like experience.
Also, the graphics aren't great on an ipad. It automatically displays in the middle of your screen as 1x or iPhone size which is pretty small. When you use the little 2x button in the bottom right to toggle larger, the graphics fill the screen on my mini but are super fuzzy.
Finally, there's a bug: I fooled around creating/completing some fake tasks at first to figure out how everything worked. They showed up on my completed quests tab, and I was able to delete them fine, but every since then my completed quest tab has remained permanently blank. No newly completed tasks show up anymore.
Basically, this app has potential, and I do like it, but it's not quite there yet.
Five stars, and a suggestion!
If you wouldn't mind reading my entire review, it'd be nice. You may want to buy this afterward.
So, O M G. This app is totally worth its price. I kinda re-discovered it today, when I was doing homework on my iPad. So I was like, this is super awesome. I already had some assignments logged in it from my prior uses, but now I intend to keep using it. It gives me some THING to look forward to other than some success that seems less-than-tangible.
So, developers, the feature I would like you to add is the ability to only delete one iteration of a repeating task, sort of like an opportunity missed. Actually, exactly like that. Just to make it go away until it is iterated once more. If you do that, I will try to convince all of my fellow procrastinators to buy this app. I hope you appreciate that. And I might even get them to write beaming reviews!
needs more categories or the ability to make your own
Great app and designating how epic your task is by point value is very entertaining and motivating.
However, I would like to see more categories or be able to make my own. Instead of strength and stamina, maybe just have something like "health" and elaborate on intelligence into a few things like "financial" and "education." And simply having a category entitled "home" could encompass cleaning, cooking, yard work, ect..
These are just a few random suggestions to make it more interesting, interactive, and specific. A category like "Renaissance" could refer to learning to play the piano, learning a new language, or writing a book.
Will you please consider these changes? I would definitely give five stars if some changes like these took place. Thanks.
