There are a number of initiative tracking apps and they're all fine for what they are, but all of them seem to over complicate a process that needs to be easier, not more difficult. Initiative order needs to be established quickly and managed efficiently. This app makes that possible with a simple, on-the-fly interface. Data entry and manipulation doesn't require a lot of complicated and convoluted operations. Very simple, very clean.
The only real criticism I have is that it would be nice to be able to rename the rooms (if is possible I can't seem to find how). Maybe the next version (this is the only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars). I've also had it crash on me once, but only once after about an hour of use.
Great job, folks!
I just downloaded this app, and I have to say it looks very promising for my game (I currently run a 4e game.) I think, as others have said, keeping it generic is a great idea.
One thing I would like to see is the ability for me to have a list of characters that are saved, so when I create a new room (a new encounter), I don't have to type in the name of each party member again - I can just load that list in, enter their initiative numbers, and go. See, I make one room for each encounter. That way, I can get the initiatives of all the monsters set up, so I just need to have the players roll theirs, and then I enter them, arrange them, and go. If I have 10 encounters in an adventure, I don't want to have enter the characters each and every time.
On the whole, the app is pretty intuitive and easy to use. I do find that it crashes often, normally after I have created a new room and go to create another one. It does not do this consistently, and I cannot find a pattern or something that triggers it.
Overall, a good app, and for the price, no complaints here!
This app is a great tool for a role-playing Game Master. It tracks the Initiative number, the Name, the Description and the Hit Points. Characters and Monsters can easily be moved up and down in order of initiative and groups can be identified by color. The developer is very responsive to emails. I use this for GURPS every weekend for an Online game with people who live all over the United States.
The only thing preventing a fifth star would be the ability to Copy and Paste Characters and Monsters to allow encounters to be prepared in separate rooms ahead of time and then pasted into the main room. That would make it sweet. Let's go for five!!
