Sherlock, The Game of Logic
By Everett Kaser Software
Open iTunes to buy and download apps.
NOTE: This is the older version of the game. It is recommended that new users use the Sherlock FREE, Sherlock PRO, and/or Sherlock ULTRA apps instead.
Sherlock is the original game of logic puzzles, where you're presented with a series of clues that help you to determine the exact locations of all of the images in the puzzle. Supports puzzle sizes 4x4, 5x5 and 6x6, three different image sets and lots of options!
Each row of the puzzle contains images of the same type (faces, houses, numbers, fruit, street signs, letters). The game gives you JUST enough clues (presented graphically) to figure out where each image must be located in its row. Once you've eliminated the impossible (figured out where images can NOT be located), you'll know the truth!
Very addicting, this game can be learned quickly, and puzzles can be solved in just a few minutes each... if you're good enough!
What's New in Version 1.0.1
A couple of bug fixes.
Love the Kaser logic games, would love to see more on ios
I DLed Sherlock on my iPod touch as soon as I saw it was available. Having played the PC version, I knew it was a must have, and well suited for portable gaming. It took me no time at all to pay the $2.99 for full version with more puzzles than I'll ever be able to solve in my lifetime. ;)
When I purchased my iPad 2 recently, I also put Sherlock on it, and it is amazing to play it on x2 mode, since it's much easier to see everything. Like a previous commenter said, I was chagrined to see that it did not recognize that I had previously paid for the full version, however, I finally decided that paying the $2.99 a second time was worth it to get it on my iPad, and when I went through the motions in app to make the purchase, I was eventually told that I had already paid for the full version, and was able to unlock all the puzzles without paying a second time. It is not obvious within the app that this will happen, so it would be nice to have a note somewhere to inform those that would like to have it on multiple devices.
I would love to see more Kaser logic games on the iOS... You'd have sales from me in a heartbeat!
Buggy and Broken
It's a great brain teaser and I was all set to buy the additional puzzles at $2.99 - a price point that I certainly felt was worth what it delivered.
Unfortunately, the app now crashes whenever I try to load a puzzle. 4x4, 5x5, 6x6, it doesn't matter. It crashes before it hits a puzzle (any puzzle), and the only thing I can use is the help screen. I've shut down and restarted the app AND my phone and it still won't work. Even if I still wanted to pay $2.99, I can't, because I can't get there. I'd have to delete and reinstall the app, erasing all my times and progress in the process. And then it crashes again.
Unfortunately, it seems there will be no updates or attempts to remedy this problem. If there ever is, this app will be worthy of 5 stars and my money. But why give any stars or cash to a program that won't work?
Love the game but it won
I loved the game in DOS and am very happy there's a version for the iPhone. I've gone through all the demo games for the 6x6 board, but now I can't upgrade to the paid version! I keep getting the message the app can't access the iTunes store and then I get kicked out to the OS. So if you want to the game, buy immediately.
ETA: Kaiser recommended making sure that you have a good Internet connection (which I had had). I was finally able to get it to upgrade by loading Safari, closing Safari, then running Sherlock. Now that I'm able to upgrade, I upgraded my rating of the game from 3 stars to 5!
