INGENIOUS BOARD GAME FOR THE IPAD!
The much larger screen of the iPad is perfectly suited to Ingenious’ brightly coloured tile laying game action, and in this version there is a special mode which allows two players to play the game opposite each other, just like in a real board game.
"PLAY ONE OF THE WORLD's MOST SUCCESSFUL BOARD GAMES!
[Known in Germany as Einfach Genial; in France as Génial; in Spain as Genial] Millions of players worldwide have either played Reiner Knizia's award winning game in the original board game format, or have played on one of the online sites.
The high res screen of the iPad perfectly suits the colours of the game, and the iPad’s super-intuitive controls make it so easy to place those tiles!
INGENIOUS is HOURS of SHEER FUN.
The already addictive nature of the Ingenious board game is greatly enhanced on the iPad. Build lines of colour tiles, try and block your opponent, and remember ... the winner must excel in all colours.
The rules are easy to learn and a comprehensive tutorial will introduce you to the game. Within minutes you'll be playing effortlessly, even as a first time player of the game.
MUSIC WHILE YOU PLAY.
Just choose your favourite artist or songs from the music iPod on your iPad. And choose a different graphic background to suit your mood.
YOU'LL NEED STRATEGY to beat the AI opponents. But you have a choice of easy, medium or hard (as well as the option to play against the clock). With the local two-player mode you can also choose to play against a human opponent. The app will record your best scores and best performances.
PLAY ONLINE if you are feeling competitive. Compare your skills with leaderboards and challenging achievements via Game Center.
Or choose to play single player TOURNAMENTS and try to win multiple games in a row. You can also choose to play against the clock in some of the rounds.
PLAY the SOLITAIRE game: Instead of playing against opponents you use all your skills to create a really high score.

This board game has been on my wish list for a while since abstract strategy is my thing, but I really dislike Ingenious for the iPad. In this app, pieces don't release correctly, which is incredibly frustrating. The other player's move flashes so quickly that I'm often unsure of what happened. Yet the thing that turns me off for the game in general--not just the frustrations of the mobile app--is the way the winner is decided based on the lowest scoring color, not the overall score. I just don't enjoy the game because of these things, so it's time to delete it electronically AND take it off my board game wish list. Better to learn I don't enjoy the game based on a $2.99 app than a full priced game, I suppose!
The game is fun and one I would recommend. But my reccomendation comes with a caveat. You WILL be frustrated by the interface. As others have pointed out, it is very difficult to manipulate the pieces. Although it can be done, you may want to throw your iPad out the window before you get a piece placed like you want. also, I had the game crash on the last play of a solitaire game. When I tried to end the game, it would crash every time. This needs to be fixed. If you like abstract, i think you'll like the game, but just be aware that the interface and solitaire crash may bother you.
Great game, shameful app
Ingenious is a clever game from Reiner Knizia, but the app does not do it justice. The user interface is annoying at best: players will find that pieces are either stuck on the board, not able to be placed, difficult to rotate, or have a combination of these problems. Also there is no tutorial, as far as I could tell. Finally, it takes so many unnecessary clicks to just play a game that is frustrating to play due to the crappy interface. Overall this app is not worth it even though the physical game is great. Buy the real thing and be glad you didn't experience it first through this app.
