Battlestar Commander is an action packed, multi-player tabletop sci -fi shooter. The games makes amazing use of iPhone's and iPad's multitouch feature - allowing you to navigate your ships and shoot at the enemy with a flick of a finger. It can sometimes be an exercise in dexterity, but the task is all the more fun as you see things explode on the screen.

The state of humanity is in peril. The dying sun, Earth depleted of resources, our galaxy is no longer capable of sustaining life. Deep in the little-explored regions of space, luckily we have found a world that could be our saving grace. Battle the opposing forces for control of this uninhabited world. In Battlestar Commander you act as a defender of your base. Using an array of ships at your disposal you must destroy as many planes of your enemy as possible and eventually the base itself as well.

Points are scored for each plane that you bring down and eventually destroy the base. The longer the distance at which you bring down a plane is, the more points are scored. In its turn, the enemy will be attacking your base decreasing the protection and viability of the structure.

Enjoy the game with a friend! In multiplayer more challenge your friends to a battle of skill and strategy as you battle each other each with your own arsenal of ships.

Unique and Casual

If you can get past the deceptive title (I was looking for a licensed Galactica game), you'll find a quick-playing game that feels like several genres in one. You buy, launch and control ships like an RTS. You buy stationary weapons to protect your base like a tower defense game. You manually fire the tower weapons like a twitch shooter. And you need to figure out the best way to manuever your ships past enemy defenses to do the most damage, which feels a little like Angry Birds. To be honest, it's not a perfect fit. It's tough to aim your turrets to hit a moving target. Several ship types feel useless, and it's tough to have more than one ship active at a time. Still, overcoming those shortcomings makes victory a little sweeter, and missions are quick. As others have noted, you can buy in-game currency with real currency, which is a fairly standard business model. But unlike a lot of other such games, you can earn enough in-game currency to keep going, too. In sum, it's not perfect, but it's a unique way to kill some time.

I'm not completely cheering over the flick-fire style controls but it adds a proper amount of challenge to the game. The graphics are actually pretty cool when u get a bombing ship to come right at your screen when pulling up (just get it and understand what I mean). As for getting points: A. I had no idea you could buy them and never have. B. I have 5 basic ships in my fleet (the ones you start with) and C. Considering all of the above, I have easily gotten through half the game. My point is, it's not worth it and you will get better with practice and effort.

Too short but fun!

Finished all the levels in about 3 hrs so it gets 4 stars. I haven't tried multiplayer. Don't listen to the guy about losing more credits than you make. If you play the game right you will have plenty of points to upgrade stuff without having to purchase in game items. The credits you receive will increase as you progress further and many higher levels are just as easy as the first ones.
