Kinda tricks you

Played the demo, liked the demo, figured the game had a wealth to offer. Bought the game; I was wrong. I can't recommend this to anyone looking for Metroidvania.

The double jump is the most powerful power-up, and you get it first. Other than that, you get an ability for moving obstacles (twice), increased air for underwater (which you barely ever use) and a charged shot that you have to change your hand position for if you want to shoot while jumping, which you do, especially for the last enemy (i.e. Use pointer and middle fingers to hit jump while holding attack, while your hand covers up half the screen).

There are only two 'epic bosses,' Your default weapon has the range of a pencil and 'weapon upgrades' only last until you're hit once. When you have the weakest weapon, it can be very tough to get your upgrade back without getting hit, due to it's short range.

If feel the developer may have started with a great vision and got lazy, pinched off an ending and slapped it into the app store.

P.S. There one part that bugged me the most... You finish the first boss and there's a new door in front of you. You try to enter-denied- you have to back track all the way to the beginning and talk to your fairy godmother, then she sends you out to the same exact spot you were just at-no new ability, no key for opening the door, no other reason other than to have a chat, so you repeat everything you just finished for no reason whatsoever.

Starts Out Good

The game does a decent job of filling a Metroidvania void in the App Store, with great virtual controls and an intriguing upgrade system. It's promising out of the gate, but quickly grows stale. Though backtracking is a big part of this genre, this title handles it clumsily, as it takes up more than half of the experience.

When you've completed the adventure, your file is erased and you're forced to start over. Want to go back and search for all the hidden areas? Too bad. Very unpolished.

second review

Actually this game deserves 5 stars, it's pretty frekkin fun, It would be cool if the game designers added in Sword up grades every once and awhile in pots and things you break, instead of hearts all the time.
