Capture your thoughts, discoveries, and ideas with OneNote, your very own digital notebook. With OneNote you can seize that moment of inspiration, take your class notes, or track that list of errands that are too important to forget. Whether you're at home, in the office, or on the go, your notes are available to you on all your devices.

-- Capture anything --
Take a picture of the whiteboard in a meeting with auto-cropping and photo enhancements. Add your PowerPoint presentation or PDF for school. Clip website articles using iOS share extension. Leave your tape recorder at home and record audio notes on-the-go. Capture it all in OneNote and add your annotations.

-- Powerful organization --
Organize your notes in a way that works best for you. Create, rename, search, sort, and copy pages, sections, and notebooks. Find your most recent notes quickly and pin the pages you use most. Secure your notes with a password and use touch ID to quickly access them.

-- Think together --
Share your notes with your friends and colleagues. Whether it's a party your planning with others, or a school project you’re working on with your group. Work together in a shared notebook at the same time.

-- Always with you --
Access your notes on your Mac, iPhone, iPad and other devices. Your notes are synced to the cloud (OneDrive, OneDrive for Business and SharePoint) making it easy to access your recipe notes on your iPhone at the store, your homework on your Mac in class, or your itinerary on your iPad during your trip.

-- Check these lists --
Create to-dos to keep track of your daily errands, groceries shopping, or travel planning.

--Write & Draw on iPad ---
Scribble your notes at a conference, write math equations in class or sketch your ideas. With a variety of pen colors and settings, you can create beautiful handwritten notes and drawings. Draw with confidence with "Convert to Shapes" mode: we'll automatically convert hand drawn shapes into crisp, perfectly regular polygons and circles.

Customer Reviews

Really Good, not quite perfect.

The Shining Highs of OneNote:

Sync is flawless
Text editing just works
Has just about everything you'd want
Works on every device, from iPhone to Mac to Surface
Never lost a word from a note
Fast, slick, and designed 👌.
Sharing notes is awesome. Like GDrive good.

The Glaring Misses:

Exporting as PDF is gosh darn awful: on iPad, it's one really long page, so printing doesn't work, and on Mac, the right side of pages get cut off! (You could fix this by using Notability's style of having a fixed border on the right side, making each digital sheet letter sized, and making iPad export better, like Notability has.)

Drawing isn't so smooth: it has plenty of features, like convert to shape, but it often draws a line when I try to zoom in. And it doesn't zoom in far enough!!

No lasso/scissor tool to select handwriting except on Mac. This should be on iPad too!!

Conclusion: with these necessary fixes, OneNote would become my all-time favorite note app. But right now, it's too hard to use in school, for annotating PDFs and resubmitting them to teachers' drop boxes! The export just plain doesn't work well enough for this!!

But it's good already, and yes, you should use it!

So close to perfect...

I'm a power user of the Windows versions of OneNote at work, so these gripes are coming from that--for many people, this app is already a top-notch note-taking, idea-capturing, sanity-preserving machine: download this app immediately and see how you can put it to use!

For me though, I'd like to see these addressed before I give the app 5 stars:

1. Can't customize your own tags. I'd dump Evernote in a heartbeat if I could tag items with my own tags instead of the default ones, most of which are completely useless to me.

2. Can't collapse outlines on mobile--on Windows, and (pretty sure, but not 100% positive) Mac, you can click to the left of an outline and collapse it. Would love this on Mobile.

3. Difficult to move text around anywhere on the page like you can on desktop or on the web. Wouldn't be that hard to allow this on touch--maybe just let the user long-tap on a text container to enable moving it anywhere on the screen.

Fix those few things and I think you'd be a tough app to beat. For now, I'll find some use for the app, but it's not perfect.

One of my requires apps

I wouldn't use a platform that doesn't support Onenote.

I use Onenote for Windows and use OneDrive to sync with my phone and other PCs. The functionality of the mobile app is excellent and I reference my notes frequently. Edits are painless (as painless as any ios app can be) and they sync to my desktop immediately.
