OneNote has been a lifesaver
This OneNote app is great. The ability to create different notebooks with multiple sections has been wonderful. I can save to do lists, pictures, reminders, meeting notes, emails, documents and so on. You can even password protect sections to keep information secret.
Only once in the past year of use did I have any trouble syncing. I was able to get things syncing again after I did the following: There was very little memory on my phone (too many pics and videos that week) so, after freeing up some memory, I updated OneNote. I then kept OneNote open, enabled background syncing and didn't let my phone go to sleep. In time (8-10 minutes), everything synced except my password protected section. I unlocked it and it was synced after 30 seconds or so. Now things sync instantly as they have in the past.
Pretty useful, couple of annoying things
I have come to rely on this app across my mobile devices and my Mac. I use it for note taking in meetings (the recording feature is really helpful), for general research on the web using the browser add-on, and for learning a foreign language. The only thing that keeps,it from five stars is the way it handles PDF printouts where it is almost impossible to annotate them. If you try to type or draw on them, the program selects the entire printout and assumes you want to move it or resize it or whatever.
The second annoying thing for learning a foreign language is that you cannot selectively turn off spell checking for a notebook. Typing foreign words results in constant red squiggly lines and having to override the suggested words. I have to disable spell checking for all applications to get around this.
Overall, though, this is a fantastic note taking app.
terrible for annotating PDF
I got this app to take notes during class. Most of my classes had pre-typed notes that I inserted into OneNote as PDF printouts. Annotating these notes was the worst. When I try to write over these notes, the app would assume that I was trying to select the PDF print out. Then it would re-center the page around the PDF print out and move it around. Since the printout takes over most of the screen there was no easy way to deselect it by clicking elsewhere on the screen. Trying to write notes down with a bulky stylus in this app was also terrible because the page can only zoom in so far.
