"If u love music & u have an iPad check out new app Discovr -very cool way to find new music" — Tony Robbins
This version updates the design to support the latest OS design patterns and the full range of iPhone & iPad screen sizes. You'll also see some much requested features like full-size high quality artist images and the new artist detail layouts.
The app includes a full music player as well as a mini player you can access anywhere in the app. You can play 30 second sample clips or buy your favorite songs and albums directly the iTunes store. You can also play full length music videos from Youtube.
NEW MUSIC DATA
This updated version of the app makes use of new and additional data sources to improve the broad music coverage in the app. The app now covers a lot more artists (around 2 million artists and bands) and includes many newer artists that the old version did not support. From super rare tracks to major hits, you'll find artists, bands, songs, and albums, across thousands of music genres from ultra underground new electronic genres to Norwegian black metal, golden era hip hop, deep indie experiments, pop, country, world, folk, classical, and more.
The app has also undergone some big code changes behind the scenes to keep the app up to date with the latest technology changes and security requirements from Apple. The main benefit of these changes is that the app is more efficient and secure, supports bigger music maps, is easier to maintain, and works well across all devices.
In addition to making maps of similar artists, you can now also make maps of related songs :) You can create a song map by starting with a search for a song instead of an artist, or you can view an artist's profile and then start a map from one of their songs. Note: related songs are determined based on related songs that users also listen to (rather than songs that just sound exactly the same).
You can save your favorite artists for easy access later. Note: favorites that you might have saved in previous versions of the app will not appear in this new version (the new code is a major update and favorites could not be transitioned across).
You can share maps, songs, and artists straight to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Email, Messages, and more. Just tap the (...) button on a map, song, or artist to share.
This is a big update, with many changes in design, code, and data sources. If you experience an issue please get in touch so I can fix it for you :)
You can report an issue at any time by shaking your device. Data fixes (like missing bands or incorrect band info) are usually fixed a few hours after being received from users, so send in your issues :)

Ratings and Reviews
Not quite the app I'm looking for
But it's still good at what it does.
First, the features I wish it had:
I wish we could save maps in-app to reload and expand later, the built in save feature only takes a small screenshot.
I wish we could have the app generate a map showing how our favorites artists are/may be related (and suggestions based on that) instead of passively hoping to run into one while following nodes from another.
I wish there was an option to "see other related artists" and add them as a node on the map instead of just the 4/5 it displays automatically for you, because I know there have to be more it's not displaying. For example if I look up Florence + the Machine, one suggestion is Marina and the Diamonds. But if look up Marina and the Diamonds, F+M is NOT one of the suggestions. I understand for space/layout reasons you can't display more than a few suggestions coming out of any one artist, but if I knew who Marina was and not Florence, I'd have no way of discovering that Florence is a first-degree connection. Considering how much I love both artists, it makes me wonder what other directly-related artists I'm missing out on just because the program doesn't select them to display as one of the 4/5 suggestions.
All that said, this app has a great interface and it does what it says it will, which is display some suggestions for related artists you might like and let you follow those suggestions further and further down the rabbit hole. Happy listening!
Absolutely love the idea, design, concept, but...
Really cool concept but there’s some improvements that could be made. The most important feature is that this app will not crash every time an artist is added to favorites. I really like the idea of this, but it’s almost impossible to use it when it constantly crashes. Another thing that could be added is allowing a suggestion to remove a band from the ‘related’ web if it’s not actually similar to it. It is a minimalist app which I like the design of but again the whole “crashing constantly” thing needs to be fixed. My friends and I have been unable to really use it that much because of that. And again so many of the times when I’m looking at artists there’s people with absolutely no connection to the singer/band and I wish that I were able to remove them. Even just submit a suggestion as to what artist is related instead. Also if when you saved the map the artists names were under it that would be good too. Or even just a full capture instead of just whatever your zoomed in on.
I am using this app for a long time and i like it very much, but over the years I’ve expected it gets upgraded with more features, and my expectations are low, so figure out how unchanged it has been staying.
To tell few most low of them:
1) I’ve expected it becomes a service, by which I mean at the very least you can have an account (free one of course) that with changing your device across, or any other reasons, you don’t loose your search which also you may have added to your favorites for future listening.
2) I’ve expected it suggests more broader choices of similar artists based on your search by now.
3) I’ve expected for a long time their similar apps which were about Books and Cinema, have came back by now (of course with above features.
