Great, but could use more

The game is great. Well built and easy to get into. Strategizing to meet the secondary goals is really demanding. I haven't picked up the sequel yet, which may respond to some of these complaints/desires:
- increase ability to specialize: I'm not talking classes, but perhaps building skill with a primary weapon type would add a lot to game.
- increase direction of game: this is partly done in the campaign mode in the sequel, I imagine, but it would be great to have more progression
- add special attributes: I'm thinking no armor or other ways to add AP.
- make line of sight and aiming clearer: I have often run into a bind when I don't understand what is blocking a shot, especially when the light of sight seems established.

Hunters gets a lot right: ease of play, quality turn base, satisfying learning curve, and customizability. The AI can be odd (they don't use guard and don't come find you if you've walked into their line of sight) and I have had a few repeated crashes (twice during large gunfights, usually when trying to fast forward the action). You don't need to buy stuff in game and I appreciate that. I'm definitely looking forward to Rodeo's other games.

One of the best TBS in the app store ...

I know this first version of Rodeo Games Hunters has been eclipsed by their release of Hunters 2,

but if you are grognard like me, you don't want to miss this TBS game.

Tons of fun and re-playability … One of the few games where I spend more money on in app purchases, and believe me, I don't do that often …

(sidebar: I have played the game without buying extras, and you are not "blocked" from advancing. Kill drops and more are enough for you to play without buying anything extra.)

They also have a great web site where other players contribute to content, strategy, hunter and weapon specifics and analysis. (not sure of the rules concerning inserting url's so I will just say … Google "Rodeo Games" and you will get to their website / wiki)

You will not regret your purchase(s) …

Well worth the price of admission, and more and more and more … Hours upon hours of TBS wargaming here !!!

Weeks of free strategy play

Totally superb. Turn based action, lots of upgrades and customization, let's you play to level 10 (weeks of play!), no need to purchase anything. Only way to improve is more customization, rewards, unique items, weapon/ammo types and a way to progress once you get to level 10 instead of a flat reset.

One gripe is the random maps... Some days you might love every map and play them over n over... Others, esp. the turn limited maps, have very little replay value and you miss the fun ones you played yesterday.
