Beautiful beginners app

SoloPocono

Although I’m certainly still a beginner; because this app is limited in the characters they cover, learners WILL outpace it in a fairly short amount of time.
That being said, the information, etymology, stroke order, on the characters they DO cover is excellent! I have several books and another app that cover the same information, but it’s not presented as nicely as it is in this app.
I still can’t shake the feeling it’s missing something though-if I figure out what it is, I’ll update the review.

Really great app!

This is a fantastic app for those interested in the Chinese language. It is mostly directed at beginners, however, the history and background information could be useful or interesting to anyone. I am not a fluent Chinese speaker, but I have taken one class on it. Speaking the language is very easy, since there is very little grammar to worry about, but reading and writing are very difficult, simply because there are so many characters to memorize! This app sets out to help you to remember the appearance of the characters, which, in my opinion, is the biggest challenge!

The included history and background are great if you're interested in the history of language, but the real reason I love the inclusion of this information is because it helps you to remember what each character looks like. Again, that is the big issue when reading Chinese. The history helps you to associate the characters with something else, which of course helps you to remember!

I hope that the author continues to add more characters to the list (although, to be honest, what has been included initially will take me awhile to learn and fully master), more pronunciations (for the derivative words as well), and more activities (drawing and redrawing the characters can be useful, but in order to truly grasp these characters it might be helpful to include some games or other activities, as other language apps sometimes do).

Highly recommended!

Amazing app

Mariano de Honduras

I love this app. The application doesn't teach grammar or any other nuances of the Chinese language other than a couple of characters, their pronunciation, meaning, and even their stroke order (you can actually practice writing them). The design is beautiful, and included is a lesson on the history of the Chinese writing system.

I'm also fluent in Spanish, which makes the app even better (since the Spanish version of Chinagram has already been released). If you want to know curiosities about the hanzi (Chinese characters), then this app is for you. I guarantee it'll trigger your desire to know more about this beautiful language.
