Continuity 2: The Continuation is the sequel to the puzzle game Continuity. Continuity has been played over 6 million times and won the Best Student Game award at the 2010 Independent Games Festival and Gameplay Innovation award at IndieCade 2010.

In Continuity 2, the game world is drawn onto sliding tiles. You must figure out how to rearrange each level in order to move your character through it, collect the key, and unlock the door. Continuity 2 is a Universal App, includes Game Center achievements, and contains 50 brand new levels that have been designed specifically for iPhone and iPad.

Brilliant, Challenging, Elegant

I played the original Continuity back when it won the Independent Games Festival's Student Showcase back in 2010, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that a sequel even existed. If you haven't played the original, go do that right now. I'll wait.

Okay, played it? Good. Anyway, in this sequel, the concept has held up very well, and it's clear that the team worked very hard refining it and expanding on that core gameplay. Rotating the level's gravity was a constant amusement from when it was first introduced, and even the lever puzzles were pretty engaging. Most importantly, none of these new mechanics detract from the core experience of sliding the level around and trying to piece a path together.

If I have one complaint, it's that jumping felt really weird at the beginning of the game, just from a user input perspective. But, I quickly got over it because the game is just that fun.

If you liked the original Continuity, get this. If you like puzzles, get this. Just get this.

An Awesome Puzzle-Platformer

Crap. My first review didn't get through. Oh well. I'll cut to the chase.

This game is really innovative. The base mechanic of sliding the panels of the world around works like a treat. Now add gravity-shifting and switch-flipping that depends on the panels' adjacency to each other to the mix, and you get a pretty mind-bending experience. At first, jumping is a little weird, and Worlds 1 and 2 are a bit slow to introduce new mechanics, but once you get to World 3 the gravity-shifting adds a whole new level of complexity to the types of puzzles available. I'm currently on World 5, and I'm still having a blast.

If you're looking for a puzzle game that utilizes the touch screen and motion-sensing capabilities to their fullest without crowding the screen with silly buttons or introducing baffling controls (you know, like shooters with tilt-based turning), look no further. This game definitely has the chops to be among the best puzzle games of the year.

Great game, but some issues with controls

Just as fun and challenging as the original flash game BUT:
1.) swipe to jump feature: sometimes character jumps in opposite direction
2.) when changing orientation character doesn't immediately flip, but hangs there sideways or upside down for a short time (counted 5 seconds once before he finally flipped)
3.) suggest that double-tap for zoom be changed to "pinch" feature -- when trying to get character to move forward just a little at a time I wind up accidentally zooming out (annoying)

PS: If you are at all unsure if you'll like this game and you haven't already played the free flash game "Continuity (#1)" then I highly recommend you do so BEFORE buying this app (the two versions are VERY similar). That way other users don't have to sift through useless comments such as you just didn't like or couldn't "get" this game.
