Walk Tracker - GPS Fitness Tracker for Walkers
By 30 South LLC
This app is only available on the App Store for iOS devices.
Walk Tracker is a GPS based tracking app for people who want to keep track of their walking fitness goals.
STATS AND MAPS
Walk Tracker tracks speed, distance, altitude, and time. It also gives you a map showing where you have been while you are saving a workout.
When viewing saved workouts your route shows up on the map color coded by speed. It shows where you went the fastest (red) and where you were slowest (blue).
Don't want to look at the screen every few minutes? You can have the app tell you updates on your progress either every mile or every five minutes.
PAUSE AND RESUME
Pause the workout to catch your breath or chat with a friend and then resume when you get back to it.
Share your workout with your friends on Facebook with our easy to use integration.
You can easily see your stats in real time with your current speed being the focal point.
VIEW TIME PERIODS
See the stats for the last workout, last week, current month, or all time with the touch of a button as well as the ability to choose a specific track.
You can switch between 3 different map types including street, hybrid, and satellite view.
The supports both standard and metric units.
Note: Continued use of the GPS will reduce battery life.

Nice, easy to use gps app
I wanted an easy to use tracking app to simply track my walks, and the distance and time of those walks. This has been wonderful so far. Just what I need. The only hiccup I see is that it shows an abnormally high fastest speed obtained. That's not important to me so I just ignore it. I couldn't have gone 5 or 6 mph as I'm recovering from lung transplant and am not running at all. Avg speed seems reasonable, however. Distances have been consistent on subsequent walks on the same trail. Haven't noticed any strain in iPhone 6 battery.
Could be 5 stars but...
This is potentially a great app! I love that it keeps track of time, speed, & distance, and it's particularly helpful to be able to see a hybrid map of exactly where I walked. But it is an incredible battery hog! The problem could be easily avoided if there were an option to turn on the GPS only "while using", as many other apps do--but you are forced to choose between "Never" and "Always." This is a nuisance to have to always go back into settings and reset it to "Never", and if you forget, your battery will shortly be dead in the water!
Not working anymore
Everytime I try to use it , the app gives me an error message stating the GPS quality is low and that the tracker will only work with Location Manager turned on, well it is on , I have 602mbs free in the RAM, the phone has 15.8 gigs of free space , location services is activated and my AT&T iPhone 5 is showing 5 bars of excellent receiving and the 4G is slamming good , but that the app does not see that the location services is turned on and is functional.
Both versions , free and pro are showing the same error message. The phone has had its most recent update installed I O S 8.1.2.
