Swap messages, but live connection crashes
I've very much enjoy the "Phone Guys" feature of Hardline. None of the rest of the app matters to me at all.
But, the outgoing message and the actual person on the other end are often not the same individual, the location stated for each caller is often crazily off the mark - someone from Tennessee is announced as calling from Vancouver, Halifax is said to be less than 50 miles from me in Seattle - things like that. This doesn't matter to me much, because I only want to chat, but if you're looking to meet, and someone's message says they're in "the downtown core", better make sure what downtown he's talking about. Also, Hardline appears to be intended for gay men, but there are plenty of women on the line, and plenty of men looking for women.
When you're listening to the "Phone Guys", the app doesn't give you a prompt when you receive a message from any Phone Guys. But you'll get a prompt when you're in any of the other parts of the app. This seems like it'd be an easy fix.
But the biggest problem is that "connection requests" don't connect. Either the recipient never gets it, or, if he attempts to accept the request, the app crashes. Those talking on the phone, rather than through the app, want me to "press 1", which isn't an option for me to try to accept his connection request.
Still, some good, hot, message swapping - good enough on a boring evening.
None of this is anything I'd actually pay for, though it's often fun.
Version 2.2.7 is not ready for ANYONE
•Chat bubbles from both sender and receiver stack on the z-axis — making every text exchange illegible.
•Audio chat bubbles don’t play when touched.
With phone users:
•Attempting to initiate a live-chat with a phone user simply sends a blank message to the phone user— making them think an App user is just a phone user who doesn’t know what he’s doing —and the phone user rejects the connection.
•Phone users report receiving the request, but connections never go through.
•Voice messages from phone users stay in the upper inbox after being read and sometimes are duplicated.
•Similarly, phone users also report that App users are appearing in the national lineup more than once.
•App still crashes unexpectedly
•In short, this version needs a massive overhaul. Prior to iOS 11, the app used to work with occasional bugs and crashes (operational 85–90% of the time). This version is virtually unusable (dropping to 5–8%). I’ve been using this app for years and while I don’t like to look a gift horse in the mouth, I’d have to say that this horse needs a dental and orthodontic appointment— stat.
•The App Store link for user support doesn’t lead to a website that allows users to report bugs or concerns but instead to a page for acquiring new phone users.
Used to be decent
I entirely concur with what nurispark has stated. It’s really too bad since this was a pretty good site to have fun chatting with others.
Now live connections never work. The messages stacking on top of each other is extremely frustrating. Please upgrade these features and I will gladly come back to use it when things are in working order.
