Carmageddon is the original freeform driving sensation, where pedestrians (and cows!) equal points, and your opponents are a bunch of crazies in a twisted mix of automotive killing machines. The game features anarchic drive-wherever-you-like gameplay and over-the-top surreal comedy violence. It’s the racing game where racing is for wimps.
Now the same Mac & PC classic that was BANNED AROUND THE WORLD is back and available on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch!
Carmageddon features real-world environments that have been turned into killing fields, where the locals stay out on the streets at their peril. As well as using your car as a weapon, every level is sprinkled generously with power-ups that have a vast variety of mad effects, adding a whole extra level of craziness to the proceedings. In every event you have the option to “play it your way”… Waste all your opponents, kill every pedestrian, or (perish the thought) complete all the laps. Oh and watch out – the cops in their super-tough armoured patrol vehicles are lurking, and if they catch you being bad they’ll be down on you like several tons of cold pork!

ABOUT STAINLESS GAMES
Stainless was founded in 1994 by Patrick Buckland, a veteran of the games industry going back to the Jurassic period of 1982, and Neil Barnden, who used to have hair like a mammoth. A team of 8 worked on the original Carmageddon at Stainless, and 5 are still with the company today, although a couple of them are now kept manacled in a small padded room in the cellar.
Stainless Games now employs well over fifty mad, dedicated people of assorted gender, height and width. They can all be found dangling precariously from a small chalky rock just off the South Coast of England.
What's New in Version 1.7
- In race MFI controller support (please note that menus must still be navigated with the touch screen controls).
- You can now save your favourite Action Replay videos to your device and share them to other Social Media.
The most fun racing game I've ever played!
Where to start with the praises? Carmageddon is true insane entertainment. I kid you not, this game has taken up so many hours of my time already; I just keep coming back for this bloody beauty. It feels like a melding of Grand Theft Auto and Burnout, two incredibly fun games in their own right!
Some may complain about things getting stale after a while, but with the several available approaches to completing a level, as well as several variations and spins on the environments presented, there's just enough variety to keep me coming back for more. Others may complain about hard to control vehicles, but that's in truth a nice dash of realism to the game; you can't expect cars designed road combat to handle like a factory fresh racer, what with the hardware they no doubt have been modified with.
One other supreme appeal to this game? NO ADS!! Not once have I been interrupted by an ad throughout the entirety of my time playing this game, and I've beaten it twice over already!
Now if you're a die-hard fan of the franchise, then this mobile adaptation likely isn't for you. But for people that just want to have fun wrecking havoc in outrageous cars in even more outrageous scenarios, then this is THE game to download!
Garbage like it's always been
I'm not going to waste too much time here, yours or mine. This is the stupid man's GTA, albeit with worse graphics and the worst f'ing controls ever. Never will you find such a frustrating experience of trying to run over a pedestrian, crash into a car, or simply just trying to actually race and complete one friggin lap! Trying to perform anything more than going in straight line results in a spin out. The repetitive sprites of bloody bodies get old after your first speed bump, and the miraculous AI does a great job of killing itself. You could literally just let your car sit their and perform the repairs only, your opponents will kill themselves, as well as the pedestrians; they'll just run into your car like a cow walking into a butcher shop.
Delete this trash. Horrible game in the 90s, why not remake something like the quake series or half life? Hell, need for speed 3, hot pursuit, all of the old GTA games. What a waste of a developer's efforts.
That 4-wheeled guilty pleasure is back!
Although simple in gameplay, Carmageddon succeeds in recreating the original version's novelty feel. I still get excited playing it today! There doesn't seem to be any improvements in graphics or sound and cars still get stuck in places but I'm truly not complaining. These quirks add to the game's character like Mario Kart's "first is worst" rule. Seeing Max's face light up and thrash around in the corner of the screen brings me back to the 90's when everyone tried to match the violence of Doom. For me, Carmageddon was Doom on wheels. After playing recently I realize that much like Doom, Carmageddon has aged like a bloody champion. Thank you for keeping this one alive!
